it states that ATI X800 will run 40% faster than the nVidia 6800.



Gabe just said it. It must be true.. with no benchmarks, no information on the settings.. hell, he could have been running at different resolutions for all I care.



valve needs to stop this stupid ATI advertising and create a game which works well for both cards and takes full advantage of both. Spreading these rumors just cuz ATI just to anally raped on the doom III benchmarks just doesnt seem right.

yeh but valve have prolly planned these rules changes...

If you've been a bad boy and havent bought CZ when it was released then you have to buy CZ because you'll get the beta.

If you've also been a good boy and bought the ATI card you have to get a reward: you´ll be able to play the beta. This is so that you dont become frustrated. But this is only revealed after that you had the chance to buy CZ to get the Beta.

Its business, this CN member taught me all about it =P.

I think I read somewhere long ago that it would get you the multiplayer version of HL2. I could be wrong though, I don't have an exact source for you.



I can't believe that people are taking the fact that Valve is making the beta available to more people and trying to portray that as a bad thing.



Let's face it, nothing Valve does will ever impress some people.

it's just annoying that developers and 3D chip companies sleep in the same bed... literally. They should be concentrating on optimizing the game for both cards for technology's sake rather than pimp one 3D company over another and neglecting half their fan base. But it seems they dont get it it and they enjoy confusing the public wtih a myriad of SKUs and marketing gimmicks that it takes the whole fun out of the technology and the game.

Back on topic, good thing I never felt the need to buy CZ and all you really need to play are the maps, which I have, and I think that CZ really makes most of the maps noobified. Come on dust with no shadows in the hall? Who were they trying to kid?

HL2 is not "optimized" for ATI. it just runs better on ATI.

of course they arent going out to say that. But with a 40% speed advantage using a standard graphics API sounds a bit supsicious. Noted, ATI does reign on DX performance but going out of your way to state such a speed increase with out any more information sounds like some sort of promotion rather than fact.
