    chargers only.
Iv'e played a clan match with those rules once befor, let me say that, whoever thought up that rule should be brutally murdered and left to rott. Its slaughter for T's on de_ maps.

As for Pro mode, that is also quite possibly the dumbest fucking (excuse my french) idea I have ever set my beady little eyes on. If that ever gets even contemplated then I will never click on that steam icon ever again, period!

Don't know about you but I find it's quite easy to do a 3 or 4 hop bunny-hop to jump past the awp hotspots.

the only thing i agree with in that article is that guns should have less random and crappy recoil, loved how the usp in particular fired in 1.5, and that the scout should have a crosshair as an incentive to use it more. The way the recoil works now encourages a different style of movement than in 1.5 which i liked. Other than that (and the addition of the shield) i really like 1.6 the way it is

or maybe because the CT's just sit and wait for the T's to come running in....

              valve strikes again,

me personally dont give a damn, if the game is fun I will play it if not then I will move on and prolly focus on school. I like the HLTV idea cuz it is getting boring and also making the game faster pace is great cuz the game was badass when it was fast , know its like SOCOM due to more camping and slowed downess.

and they can takeaway that crappy sheild

I guess the "randomness" issue is what I want to comment on. I can't help but find it strangely ironic that someone claiming to be a "pro" with "good aim" is complaining about the recoil that CS1.6 has.
does that mean you're agreeing with me? I wanna leave recoil, just the randomness i would like to see reduced. :)

Is it harder to hit while strafing, or harder to hit the strafer? should it be that way? (not asked as a rhetorical question, i want to know what people think)

anyways.. this elietist version as narby put it.. is a bad idea.. and almost makes it sound like it is wanted to be made EASIER..

i know i would like fast weapon switching and less randomness myself... and all i do is pub.

and for the people talking about separating, into cz, cs pub, and clan/leaugue.. it already is.

                    Good comments F13nd and plogo.

My experience is definately that CS, at the top level anyway, is in decline.

After 1.4 came out, many of the UK's best player quit the game for RTCW or other games. Only a few new decent players have come to the game, and more are leaving all the time for various reasons. Universally they are fed up of the slow pace of the game.

We have a situation where the top UK clans (4K, TAG, I-eS) have to recruit Swedish players because there is no longer homegrown talent coming through. What was once the largest league in the UK, the Clanbase ladder, which had thousands of active clans 3 years ago, has now dwindled to just a few hundred active clans. People are switching over to CoD, MoH and similar games all the time. Yes there's still lots of newbies picking up the game, but there's only a fraction of the people that were playing back in early beta left.

Here's a few quotes of some CPL players thoughts:

                    Moto from Team3D
                    2) Overall Weapon Accuracy is a close second to my FPS problems. I feel like most of the time there is zero consistancy with any guns, sometimes you can one-shot deagle headshot someone across the map and other times you can't kill them with 7 bullets when their back is turned right in front of you.

                    3) I don't like the skill gap in Counter-Strike. Counter-Strike is the only game where someone who has been playing for three weeks can kill someone with years of experience just simply because of game mechanics. The only thing seperating the best from everyone else in Counter-Strike is shear experience and the ability to know when to make "The Right Move" against your opponent.
                    4K^Xenon
                    1) My major beef with Counter-Strike has to be the recoil. I remember when I started in 1.1, you were able to be moving (slightly) and still control your shots. I thought that this made for faster and action packed game. Now I see many people simply stand still or sit down in a firefight. You were able to move (slightly) and still control your shots, not be moving.

                    2) I think that, in general, Counter-Strike has been getting more newbie-friendly with every release that comes out. It feels easier to headshot people, harder to aim with pistols since about 1.5, etc."
                    Vesslan of Team-Adrenaline:
"1) The weapon switch. It is too damn slow in my opinion and I see no reason why it should be like this. It is very important to find the border between realism and gameplay. Same thing applies to the silencer, where you have to wait about a second or two before you can fire it. It would be better if it took a longer time to put it on and/or off.

                    2) Jump slowdowns are annoying. How realistic can it possibly be to jump off a cliff, fall 50 meters and not even lose a single percent of your speed while jumping an inch makes you slow down like it was my grandmother?"

"I do agree with that the game of Counter-Strike has to change quite fast to make it more spectator-friendly again. Us, the "pro" players, must keep in mind that it is all about the fans, otherwise there is no pro community."

Some people need to learn to read.

I'm shocked at the ignorance of the majority of the comments, even from the CSN staff.
Some people need to take a look back at Counter-Strike history. There will always be people who want to change CS back to the way it was. I simply cannot fathom as to why people still want to jump around so much. It might have been skillful to do so in 1.3, but guess what? It's going to take you more skill to use tactics and use your brain instead of rushing and jumping head shot someone.

Jumping head shots are easier than actually using tactics. Jumping around scoring head shots does not require as much skill as people make it out to be.

But the people who want to change CS "back to the good ol' days" will always be wrong for this simple fact: CS is always evolving. It is the single reason it remains hugely popular to this day and will continue to be popular for a long time to come. 3D and other pro clans might bitch about the changes, but they are still playing, aren't they? Not to mention they are highly successful at it.

As for randomness: A large portion of it has to do with the current net code and I am confident that Valve will fix it in due time. It's not like Valve completely re-tooled the accuracy code in order to make it more random on purpose. I can still get a good two-bullet burst from my AK or Colt and score a head shot without much trouble. And I suck at CS.

PS: I did read the article and I think most of the points are horrible ideas. Except for:
                        » Radar transparency

                        » Removal of shield

                        » Flashbang bugs
And Valve is working on 2/3 of those problems.

PPS: They took bunny hopping out of your "beloved" Call Of Duty as well in the latest patch. (Perhaps because it's bad idea to bunny hop all over the goddamned place to begin with.)

                        Spoonman, I don't mean to cause offence;

But your comments sound like those of someone who is lacking the skill to do things like "jumping around scoring headshots", and looks for some reason to excuse themselves.

Tactics have nothing to do with skill. Skill is aim, movement, positioning. Yes tactics are important to doing well at CS, but they nowt to do with skill (unless your definition of the word is significantly different to anyone else's).

Comments like these are what spoiled CS. People who can't accept the fact that there's a lot of players much better at the game. Tactics were just as important in earlier, more skilled versions of CS, it's an outright lie to claim otherwise, and just an attempt to impression others into thinking this change is to create a more brainless version of the game. I'm surprised and ashamed a respected staff memeber of a gaming site could post something so manipulative.

                            Lets take this point-by-point:

Excuse from what? I used to rush around, jumping, getting headshots, it was fun, but now that's changed. I still manage to have fun playing CS, somehow.
Tactics have nothing to do with skill. Skill is aim, movement, positioning. Yes tactics are important to doing well at CS, but they nowt to do with skill (unless your definition of the word is significantly different to anyone else's).
When I transitioned from pub play to "league" play I had A LOT to learn. Tactics is a skill you have to learn in order to do well in league matches. A pub player, no matter how good he is at aiming and moving, will do horribly if placed in a position of playing in a league match.
Comments like these are what spoiled CS. People who can't accept the fact that there's a lot of players much better at the game. Now this point is important, so pay close attention:

If CS is so "dumbed down" why isn't every new, CAL-O, pub team going to CPL and winning the tournament? Why are there still divisions in the community between "pub players", "league players", and "pro players"?

If CS is so dumbed down, then it would have leveled the playing field, but it has obviously not. I can accept that there are better people in CS, there always will be. And you know why? Because they can adapt to change. They might bitch about changes, but they're still at the top of their game.

The fact of the matter is that it isn't about skill at all. You and others like you just hate the changes that have been implemented by the CS Team. It's really as simple as that. If you cannot accept them then go ahead and make your mod and fail as many have before you have failed. Not Valve or CAL or TWL or any other league or established organization will accept this mod. It might be presumptuous for me to say this, but based on the history of such efforts, I am confident that it will not succeed, with good reason. The reason is that most CS players, including those in leagues, can accept change and will continue playing it the way it is, no matter how loudly other people bitch at the changes. The only "brainless version of the game" will be the one these people are thinking of making.

Valve must be bored, dont they have a game to release, oh yeah, Half Life fucking 2 - get to it instead of pissing on CS.

First off; A pro mode that was only issued at tornys that would increase security and optimize maps (aztec for example) would be great. However if its for the general CS public; no.

Secondly; How about fixing some bugs before you go making more. Splash damage through walls with nades, hossies walking like zombies when they could just use a ct or c walk, steam not connecting properly every time etc)

Last but not least; Release Half Life 2.
