i think the words you are looking for are 'its getting closer to how good it was before steam was invented every day!' which is the point people are making when they say they hate steam..
why couldn't they do it with a game that no one plays like avp2 or something ^_^Comment

STOP TRYING. It's only going to make things worse. If everyone stops trying, everything will calm down and start working again! Stop touch that icon. Just let Steam be for a couple of hours.
I was able to update my client, but my server...thats another story, I'm just gonna keep trying till 4:30, then if that doesnt work, wait till around 6 tonight...Just have patience, maybe do some homework or something...Comment

2 possible fixes for ppl having problems...
if you get the error where CS and/or other installed mods are listed as uninstalled, click on half life and press 'play' it will do some shit and say 'preparing to play' etc... but will not load, but at least CS and other mods are again installed.
if you get errors of steam not loading up, exit AND ctrl alt delete and end task, if problems are occuring then this is likely 'one' of the problems
though dont count on playing CS tonight, unless you still got 1.5 installed
HAHA, seconds after i posted that i get update box saying 'cs is ready' well good luckComment

In my opinion, Valve has once again dropped the ball on this one. I understand that Steam isn't designed for all possible users to be online at once, but the network should be able to handle this kind of traffic. Valve could at least have released the update as a standalone file in order to ease load on the servers. Now we all pay the price. Whoops.Comment
