Well, I really have to thank those Swedish "scientists", without whom I would have never know playing Counter-Strike 8 hours a day while eating makes you fat. But I'm not so sure about the violence statement. What these "doctors" do not seem to understand is that sick people with sick ideas have had those sick ideas for much earlier than they have been playing video games, and I think video games are just "idea whores" as much as films, or even books, are. Yet no one blamed Pulp Fiction or some other violent films when the event of Columbine happened, yet these kind of violent films are easily accessible to anyone young. Violent fantasies are rooted in a brain, they don't appear there.

Anyway, about that Passion comment, some of you need to understand the sense of sarcasm. It's a damn joke and I'm sure asspennies didn't have the will to shock anyone with it. If you ask me, he is just making an ironic statement, and there's not much wrong with that.

No, that's the executive branch. You might have a point with your rant about activist judges, but then you go off with...

If there was a part of the constitution that was in question...it was originally suppose to handled by congress. (since their elected officials = less chance of corruption)
Marbury v Madison happened a long while ago; you should get over it. The reason congress can't be trusted is because it is elected. Judges do not have to pander to the majority: they can protect the minority. That is what our constitution does.

Almost everything that has been found unconstitutional has been a law in some form of legislature.

"Activist" judges are who ruled that the Internet has the same level of free speech as newspapers (called "absolute" free speech, if I recall correctly).

Basically, the arching point I am making here is that even though you think gays are ruining our country, judges are a heck of a lot better than legislature when it comes to determining the constitutionality of things. If Bush v Gore were decided in congress, it would have broken down to party lines. That is ridiculous.

RE: corruption, see the reconstructionist period or all the campaign finance reform laws recently (of which many were declared constitutional by the corrupt supreme court).

Perhaps you would be happier in a country WITHOUT a piece of Constitutional goodness that supports freedoms like those within the 2nd Amendment? A country like perhaps... CHINA?????

Hurry now, thanks to "terrorism", one way tickets to China are going fast! Take your last trip to "your" perfect society NOW! *sarcasm*

Given the choice between a socialist, freedom-destroying politician and a patriotic gun toting/supporting one, which do you think I am going to choose? *hint* It ain't the first one! As I have told people before, you don't like the idea of being a patriot of your own country, being proud of it and doing all you can to protecting it's freedoms? Thankfully for those of you whom this applies to, this is the land of the free so you are FREE TO GET THE HELL OUT OF IT IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT, THANKS! Personally I and many other Americans who feel the same way have no use for ya!

*Note: This message applys to US citizens only, for anyone else don't bother!
I am from Europe but i am a bit bothered by your comment:

Although i respect the pride u people feel for your country and the fact that u are willing to do what it takes to protect your freedom and the freedom others, i think that your comments on China (especially linking it to terrorism) are plain stupid. China is a great country with a VAST history. (in comparison the history of the US is rather limited)

I am not saying they got it wright and u got it wrong, they just do things in an other way: what's so wrong with a bit of socialism??? do u really think that no socialist politician in China is trying to do the right thing for his country and the world and that every patriotic American politician does whats best? Its this behavior of " we know whats best " that other countries come to see as hypocritical coming from a country that makes mistakes just like any other.

(btw i still think its better that no-one has a gun then that everyone has a gun because it takes much more strenght and discipline not to fire a gun then to fire one and people are WEEK)

It's not that. The real difference is that a politician in America has power while China isn't actually a democracy. An elected official in China has almost no power.

well, the American president wasn't elected by the majority either but i guess no system is perfect :-)

In every country there are people with power that are not elected, for the US its big business and in China its the communist party.

I'm sorry but the comment made by asspennies was completely uncalled for. The link he gave also pissed me off one of the comments saying "If Jesus actually received the amount of punishment dished out in this film, he would have been dead three times over before arriving at Calvary. " Well guess what?! Hes not a normal person! If you had looked in the Bible before making that stupid comment you would see that God gave him the strength to endure the suffering.

China, I been their to visit my family, it pretty good visit but stay away from the really dirty looking places (such as alley way food shops, like regular dirty places you would stay away such as the alleys in NYC,NY) anyway I had fun (I'm U.S. American) but the flight was confusing as heck... crossing the Date Line (or whatever it called) thingly it hard to understand what time it is.

Also China is more free than you think. But still some locks on things.

I distinctly remember The Basketball Diaries sharing in the media's blame game, along with other obvious targets like Doom and Marilyn Manson.

Ive been playing HL since it came out, i sometimes play more than 8 hours a day on those rainy days, but, I'm not fat and I'm not violent... cept when I'm playing.

The only problem is the people that cant tell the difference between fantasy and reality, those are the people you have to look out for, but thats like 1 out of 20,000, i don't know.

the lesson is, don't call people "n00bs" they might go on a killing rampage.

Dont forget Soldier of Fortune and other uber violent games. CS is like G8+ now days...

Just teach your kids the difference between reality and fantasy and right and wrong. :P

The supreme court has the final say-so on whatever constitutional issues 'activist judges' bring up. Right now the legislative/executive branches are being dictated by the judical branch, which was my orignal point; They shouldn't be given that type of power.
Marbury v Madison happened a long while ago; you should get over it. The reason congress can't be trusted is because it is elected. Judges do not have to pander to the majority: they can protect the minority. That is what our constitution does.
Which was a mistake. Giving 9 unelected judges (6 back then) the authority to rewrite the constitution the way they see fit = bad. It's nothing more then a dictatorship as far as rights and laws goes.
"Activist" judges are who ruled that the Internet has the same level of free speech as newspapers (called "absolute" free speech, if I recall correctly).

As far as Bush/Gore goes...A problem withen congress should obviously be handled by a third party (such as the supreme court). However, changing the constition to fit their own personel beliefs - and not reading the constition for what it is - shouldn't be.
RE: corruption, see the reconstructionist period or all the campaign finance reform laws recently (of which many were declared constitutional by the corrupt supreme court).
Yes...campaign finances are perfect now. No one is allowed to accept money from lobbyist, companies or 'big donators'. No wait, they are

Reconstructionist period - glad you brought that up. It took, using the judicial/supreme court system, almost a century to figure out that all people are created equal means all people. (and another 100 years to put it in place) I'm sure it will take another ~200 years for them to figure out that all people are created equal also means people of all ages...
