Of course CS wouldn't be around without Valve; CS was a mod for Half-Life. (Har) If you meant that CS wasn't good until Valve got involved I would have to disagree. Also, CS-Nation was around before Counter-Strike went retail.

lopinboy you are saying that half-life 2 and cs2 are just small upgrades of cs and hl... thats completely incorrect. you aren't "upgrading" cs and cs2, the game is at a whole new level. Another thing is what would make you think that most people will "care less" about half-life 2! are you insane? there are so many hl cs and other mod fans of this community! its huge! they aren't gonna wave hl2 off, you have probably never experienced hl2, ive seen it more than id like and i know for a fact you are not "buying a game that you already own, in hl2 or cs2 because if hl2 is so much more perfect than hl, cs2 will be miles above cs!appended @ [time="1076263353"]

according to the article.....it appears that VB is comming out next spring....the cnnmoney article..although i do believe i will be playing hl2 this summer....despite the precedents...it comes down to this..."i want to believe"
vampire bloodlines (the 1st non valveish game with source engine) is coming out this fall. hl2 must be out before that, so summer looks fine.It now has a target release date of Spring 2005, said Trokia co-founder Jason Anderson.

As I said before, with the game being push back further and further, people aren't going to waste their time waiting for HL2 to be released just so they can release their mod. This is not a market driven by fanboys and what-not.
Actually it is a market driven by fanboys. Fanboys are the ones who hype up the game without total knowledge of it. I am a Blizzard fanboy, and with their trackrecord, they have a high chance of producing a game that I love and millions more will love. I believe the Doom series has a huge fanclub and most likely exceeds that of VALVe. It's a battle of fans and when fans get disappointed by constant release date lies, they turn to other games.lopinboy you are saying that half-life 2 and cs2 are just small upgrades of cs and hl...
Let me check if I called them upgrades.... nope... nothing there. I said the majority of people who play CS (for 1, most don't even own HL) aren't going to be willing to shell out $50 for CS to undergo some cosmetic changes.Comment

CS2 was in the works, by Gooseman at least, after CS went retail and even before CZ was placed in the capable hands of Rogue a couple years ago.
where are you guys getting all this info about "cs2?"
you guys talk about cs2 as if it were officially announced and you were beta testing it!Comment

I see the game as most likely already finished, but see Vivendi doesn't have to release the game till whenever they want. Those of you pissed at Valve should maybe focus their anger at Vivendi Universal.
As soon as these games are out, Vivendi's contract with Valve is terminated, why not milk the cow for all its worth?
Case in Point: Vivendi owns Blizzard Studios, who are currently in production of StarCrtaft:Ghost (which by various teasers came out last year :|) There was quite a bit of hype, atleast down here, and then nothing and the game was forgotten about.
In all likely hood Valve has had Half-Life 2 finished for months, and Vivendi is just drawing out the testing and debugging process to get more money.
well that or im on crackComment
