Thats pretty darn cool, for two reasons:

1. I read that garbage with no problems, which is wierd.

2. It's from an BRITISH University. And Britain is awesome.

well f**k, I thought there was something wrong with my Steam installation. I ended up deleting the damn thing and re-installing. If Steam is still a pain in the ass for me in two weeks, cs well be forever dead to me.

y steam? cs 1.5, nothing broke y 'fix' it . just like all the pc ahrdware, dont touch it unless its screw up. i have to admit i loved the ganlil, but they could have just release a good old patch, unlike this register crap. cs was a click and go game, now we have to wait for good 20mins just to login, y ?!? it's not exactly they can make money out of this login crappy system, but then again,. they might start charging for cs...... if thats the case, im moving onto urban terror, cs based on quake 3 engine....... they really have screwed up this time.

According to steam status page all is ok, but i cant login! and if i do

then my steam just locks up!

My STEAM just repeatedly says my internet connection is down. Funny: ICQ, iMesh and IE are all working and my ADSL router is fine - need I say more!!

I'll just stick to 1.5 thx

i dont understand what was wrong with the old way of updating CS....have only managed to get steam to work mabey 4 times or so. =/

my cs runs just fine...and to think of it 1.6 is faster than 1.5 when it come to loading up and exiting...

Starting CS1.5:

Start CS>Play CS>Play Online>Refresh servers>double-click server

Starting CS1.6:

Start Steam>Refresh servers>Double-click server.

Exiting CS1.5:

press ESC(wait till server screen comes up)>Exit online games(wait till it disconnects)>exit Play CS>exit game.

Exiting CS1.6:

press ESC>click Exit then confirm.

it did take more time to start steam a couple of days bck but now since the servers have cooled down it take less time for steam to login.i think its the login which takes more time not steam itself.

As far as the shield exploit is concerned...tht should be fixed.

there is still the old way pf updating...u can download the cache files...and steam is overall better when things cool down and they pull the plug on WON...bwuahhahaahhahahahahahahahahahahahahaah

i actually think that 1.6 loads faster, but taking steam into account, your points about 1.6 > 1.5 as far as speed goes are a bit off.

starting 1.5-open hlm/hlsw/ase/kali/hlit/etc, double click server you want.

starting 1.6-open steam. alt+ctrl+del, cancel steam.exe since it didn't do anything, then open steam. if it opens, click servers and refresh. if that doesn't make you lose your internet connection completely, then double click server, and let it load.

the concept of steam is what is being overlooked by many here. if they want to update a map, or add a weapon, or nerf the awp, etc...they update steam, and when we boot it up, we update. (not all at the same time, so maybe there wont be the lagginess we get now) im looking forward to the future of steam, just when i have to reboot my whole network, including pcs/routers/modem because steam wants to freeze on me, thats pretty lame. in due time. i know.
