Counter Strike 1.6 is no good the riot shield is for nubs who like to camp, the whole steam system jus sucks, why do we have to change from 1.5 to 1.6 using steam, cause frankly steam is slow at connecting to servers and shouldn't be used at all. Now that steam is taking over and 1.5 will soon be gone i have stopped playing counter strike forever because of the new steam being used and my prediction is that within a few years all of counter strike will be dead if they keep continuing with steam and the shitty ideas being brought up such as the riot shield. Valve and the makers of Counter strike should really be thinking and getting the ppls opinions about the new 1.6 before even switching just so that many people dont quit counter strike the way i did cause of the new 1.6 version.

I love CS 1.6. I just /?%?"/ hate STEAM. It's too damn ugly , it's slow and unriable. Guys we were better with WON. Tell me why terminate WON who's working great and start STEAM whos supposed to be better but he's not? AS for 1.6 I like it execpt mabye they should do something about the shield. I havent problem killing someone whos using it it's just fuckin boring.



Ps need help to kill a shield user throw a grenade behind him( most players go back on their tracks when tey see a grenade coming)

Hey i understand why people actually like 1.6, its its because their better now.. its MUCH easier to get lucky and kill a much more skilled player then you.. the larger difference in skill levels we once has gotten smaller.. they did the same thing from 1.3 to 1.4, but this is just sad.. they made it so n00bs dont get pissed and quit the game..

i play counter-strike since it was on 5.2 Beta ..i think .... but my opinnion is that counter-strike and steam aren't doing good work .. i made a lot of tests .... and found the steam very buggy ..... if i do not have an internet conexion i will not be able to play steam .... to start steam ... it continuously downloads .... i check the non update thing from the monitor of steam .... that worked .. but when i try to start steam .. it still downloads ... you were supposed to leave de game counter-strike as it was .... it was very very good .....but now .. is getting bader and bader .... sorry to say this ....

st3-fun is right valve should really consider looking at the people's opinions and thoughts before goin into a project in which they think would be sucessful, before alot of people start not playing cs no more cause of 1.6.

There's several ways to kill a shielder.



1. Shoot him when he reloads. Note that there is currently a glitch where if you close the shield during the 'automatic' reload period, you still have full protection when reloading. Once this glitch is out, a shielder will have very little protection when reloading, and you can pop 'em for a headshot.



2. Pop 'em in the head with your superior aim, and superior weapon. Does not work when they're glitching, of course.



3. 'Nade 'em. Flashbang for effective blindness, then flank, or HE grenade can kill, with two of them, or if they've been weakened earlier.



4. Teamwork. When you shoot the shield with an ak or m4 or even an awp, they can barely move (which includes turning). One team member shoots them and slows them, the other flanks. Easy kill. You can even do this by yourself if you're close enough with a full enough clip.



5. Jump and shoot their head. This used to work in beta, but apparently it doesn't anymore. You can jump on top of a crouching shielder and shoot his head all day, and he doesn't even have to look up at you, just keep his shield closed. A glitch to be fixed later.



6. Knife them. You'll have to have some skill as most shielders are ready to open a shield and pop you in the head. Perhaps a fake-out with a knife, then switch to your gun? Also, the secondary attack penetrates the shield, the first does not.



7. Outplay them. If you can simply get them to look the other way, you can easily shoot their back. Hide around a corner you know they won't check, or blast through their other teammates and flank them.



8. Autoshotty. You've got 7 shots to slow and flank, and if one, maybe two, land, they're dead. Just keep circling them (in both directions, back and forth) and just try to flank the shield.



Shields are extremely easy to kill in 1on1 scenarios, or if you outnumber the shielder. However, once you start to have multiple teammates with the shield, in the same place (but not close enough to nade together), then it starts to suck. And of course there's the glitchers as well.



My suggestion to balance the shield (besides removing glitches) would be to enable the ownership of more than one HE grenade at a time. Perhaps 3-5, max? Also, this could be enabled as T-only, to counter the shield being CT-only.

as I said ruins the objective of the game cause everyones after the shielders, stupid very dumb idea

i got steam up and running fine last night. i even managed to DL the new HLDS after 40 min. i can't play 1.6 right now. it just lags like crazy. my old PC runs 1.5 fine at 1024x768 but 1.6 at 800x600 sucks balls. i am waiting to commit to upgrading the server until i can play and enjoy 1.6. i am bummed. i tried to like it.

Same old same old, another CS update, another couple of months of whining & bitching. 2 months down the line everyone will be used to it & thatll be the end of it. Personally I prefer 1.6 - it's easier Valve just need to pull theyre finger out & get that damn shield exploit sorted cos its driving me nuts, I havent been on a shield enabled server yet where someone wasnt exploiting the bug!

I think everyone needs to quit bitching about 1.6. Its not that bad, it just takes time to get used to, which is natural with all new things. Everyone is so worried about people using the sheild exploit, when in fact very few people actually use it. People are just looking for a reason to whine about everything. In 1.5 it was the awp, and in 1.6 its the shield, can we just play the game?
