Ok. You want to know why valve ruined CS??? Here's a list.....

1. Steam - it's a waste of time, it takes forever, and it doesn't work half the time.



2. No WON?!?! - How dare they remove WON from the system. OK have your steam and CS 1.6, but leave WON for us gamers who like CS 1.5 just the way it is.



3. No Custom anything??? - With CS 1.5 you were able to customize models, sounds, sprites, etc. With CS 1.6 you can't customize n e thing.



4. Riot shield - Great add in another way for CTs to overpower the Ts. And I'm pretty sure if I unloaded a full clip of ak-47 bullets on a riot shield the guy behind it wouldn't be alright.



5. The new look - Are all the people at valve blind or something?? Why is the new font in CS a font size of 16??



6. New level layouts - Whats up with changing all the maps around? We just get used to them and learn all the tricks and now they change it up. The new Cobble sucks badly, why is the ally on the far right from the CT side have a huge room filled with crates?



There you go, there are a couple reasons of why CS is ruined. The biggest being the fact that they are removing WON completely, now us 1.5 players are forced to play a POS corprate remake, or quit. Well Valve sure did pick a great time to fuck over CS, cuz now we can all move on to play Halo and support Microsoft even more!!! GG Valve. Mark my word, CS is done for.

Here I agree, for those who have it work fine there is as many who DONT have it working fine. I tried this on a clean xp install with nothing other than steam on a spare pc... Didnt work at all over 2 days

My wife is really pissed most of her customizations got trashed when she tried it. Yes she did back up first before you mention that :P

I couldnt figure this one out. The old font was perfect and now the new one is indeed too large... maybe for those who run CS at 1280x1024 and above?

I dont think everyone is going to quit, for all those who have said they will they will likely be back playing in a week. As for Halo... uhhh... yeah... hmmmm... I think i'll stick to *cough* Tribes.

1. don't really know how it takes forever to load

2. won and steam-id's have the exact same purpose

3. you CAN customize the stuff, like skins etc. your're just dumb, and doesn't know how to check for answers on steam's site

4. this can even it up on some maps like cs_assault, though I admit that it slightly unfair to the T's

5. the new font they picked looks nice, but the letters need to have a black outline

6. i don't remember any map layouts changed, i only noticed texture changes and bug fixes



CS isn't ruined, valve just need some time to clean up a few messes *cough bandwidth*. why not try talking about the goods about steam instead of the bad's.

CUSTOM SKINS:

Yes you can have custom ones in cs 1.6 you just have to know how to install them. There isnt any skin folder or anykind in cs 1.6 you have to make the folder up. Then the game detects that folder and uses the skin. The only problem is that player model skins for 1.5 dont have the right animation for the shield so it cant work but the guns skins still work fine....



- In order to replace models in Counter-Strike 1.6 you will need to create the folders yourself. For example if you wanted to replace a weapon model you would create the folder “models� (located under <Steam location>\SteamApps\<your email address>\Counter-Strike\cstrike\) and then move the new model into that folder.



-Now it’s time to delete some files from the Steam cstrike sub folders. Open up the models folder and delete the folder called “Player�. You will also be required to delete all models starting with P_ in the models folder.

(Cuz cs 1.6 dont support player model skins and p_model)

Teamwork does not happen on public servers. You cannot just make it happen. The shield has not made a singular increase in teamplay in public servers and it never will. It won't increase teamplay in clan play either since it's not like most clans just ignored teamplay before 1.5.



You can't make the shield out to be something it really isn't. It's no more of a teamwork enhancer than the C4 being planted from the CT's perspective is.

True, for the most part, but my on my former clans' public server, the shield has been used in conjunction with teamwork a good amount of the time considering it is a pub. It can happen, you have to try for it, but it can happen.

No, I did go and read the site on how to customize stuff. And I did do it all, but in order to have CS work still, you must get rid of the majority of your customizations. EG all of your model files that begin with P_ and your Player models folder

u guys ranting about how cs 1.6 sucks is rediculous.



the won system had its bandwidth, and steam is slow, sure. but thats like comparing the steam 11 year old's dick to the won pimp of the year. the steam network is still young and in production. it will speed up surely when won is through with.



frankly speaking, the old interface sucked. it was slow, bugged, tedious. server refreshing was a nightmare for common maps. yea u can tell me to get gametiger and crap but those dont scan for every possible server do they? i dont know about u guys but the steam interface pwns. its fast, its clean, navigatable. it has a friends list.



custom models work fine. on top of custom models, official maps have also been given visual upgrades.



shields r stupid, yes i half-heartedly agree. but without shields to complain about, people complain about awp whores anyway. now theres 2 things to complain about and at least they can somewhat balance each other out.



famas and galil are actually a positive addition. to all u fools complaining about how the famas is shit, try aiming at least a little. u kno as a general rule of thumb, slashing ur mouse and making a spray line doesnt work. the burst fire on the famas ups the rate of fire....no other gun can shoot 3 consecutive shots at that rate and that accurately. galil rips people up. and for all u even bigger fools who say galil sucks too, try not to spray full auto at the people on the other side of the map.



1.6 pwns and u guys r gonna b complaining anyway when/if a new version comes out. best adapt to it. this time's change was actually good i think. when was the last time cs did such a major visual and interface upgrade?(and dont say the changed menus background from the "orange jumpsuit hostie and arctic making out" to the guys in dust.
