Hahahah, when I first tried CS1.6 I was on a server in Aztec... Its funny as hell to see 6 Ct's hobble across the bridge with shields... they look like they are dancing... you know... like where you see discovery channel for Africa and they are dancing around with those masks? Anyways... My comments on the new items... Fa-mas is pretty cool if you put it on burst fire mode.... Galil is cooler than AK in my opinion... I think the riot shield balances out things with the AWP... Although I want a re-skin for it...

To all you people having trouble getting 1.6, you're really not missing anything so I wouldn't be so desperate to play.
I was pretty convinced during the 1.6 betas that the shield would be useless but it's completely imbalanced the game now. I was going to post a long summary (<-- laugh) of how shitty the game has gotten, but now I don't feel like it and I'm going to bed. IT WORKS!!! IT WORKS!!!! ahahahahahhaha
The FAMAS owns. The Galil is nice. SMOKES OWN. The knife is actually ok, I had thought it'd suck. Liking the animations, if not the coloring. The shield is insane. I don't know if the shield will get bothersome on 32-player pubs after a while, but right now I like it a lot.
I still have some config issues (screen size strangely small, bad resolution) and it has trouble loading maps, but these things are bound to get better. So, if Steam starts working more reliably and doesn't get all gay, 1.6 is looking GOOD.
But Steam sure is one foggy contraption. It downloads shitloads of stuff... to where? From where? Why? HOW? What does it do with the stuff it downloads? Nobody knows.
This Steam + 1.6 install has certainly been a nerd adventure, and this is one überlong thread, but things should hopefully be clearing up. Maybe they'll update CS more often now, giving us more cool stuff!!Comment

hmm, eventually after several hours, i mananged to open CS, clicked find servers, found alot of servers, *click to play, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO freezes at validating game resources... mananged to open CS 4 times now (in 1 1/2 days), and all 4 times, its frozen at validating....Comment

I found that if your game freezes at "preparing to play counter-strike..."
that it wont freeze if you click on games, right click on counter-strike and click "create desktop shortcut" and open it from the shortcut.Comment
