maybe restarting comp unless your really far into steam install. You could also try checking the cords for your internet connection

I've played since it came out too and I love it but it i just annoying right now

You must be right, Whitefire! The internet cords could possibly be ripped out. Well, maybe not, because you are answering people who are online.



Restarting my computer didn't do a thing.



Sorry I'm being sarcastic, but I'd like to at least be downloading/updating, rather than getting that error message.

still check your cords cause sometimes my internet works but things won't get transfered

i'm just going to play bf42, and try again tommorow. no sense tring when it just won't work. But as i said this will clear up soon

Yeah I already restarted like 3 times, and my cords are fine. I'm thinking this is happening to people in a general area.

if you had steam beta and use the same account name as u did in beta will your steam id be lower or what?



Steam IDs are first come first serve basis, do u get one when u make your account im assuming? So i made my beta account when 2.0 first came out (or was leaked to be exact) but then made taht my account again for offical steam today about 10:30 am est, so do i get a steam ID based on my beta account or just got one at 10:30 today however high it was by then..

Well i got 75605 and now im stuck on Converting Half-Life Files into steam cache...

Right now i Updating Platform Files... 63%, i was like wait hours and hours. Then I stopped running steam, turned off my computer, turn on, connected to web, removed my cords from my cable box, put them back in, turned on steam, downloaded nessary files, made a account now Updateing Platform Files... 64% and waiting. Its seems to me that you turn off and on steam until it works (i turn on and off steam like 12x before it worked), but it does work.

As a network administrator, I have to laugh and cry at the sheer stupidity of Steam/Valve. The CS 1.6 content was hosted on only a few servers, with millions of people worldwide hammering it continuously, making more people frustrated, and less likely to get their product, and slowing the crap out of their network as a result.



Also, I can't believe bots are gone. They were the only good part of 1.6. And having to have an internet connection to play a LAN game? Pah. If we had to pay for this, and it had to verify our resources then, I wouldn't mind. But even when it was Beta and free...? How are we meant to get more people playing the future of CS at LANs? What about the people on 56k? (Christ, I'm on 512/128 and I still got bent over by Steam)(http://www.users.on.net/hoogs/yeahright.png)



All in all, a VERY bad move for Valve and Steam. I hope all other companies sit up and take notice, and have this on their "not to do" list.
