HELP!!!



I had all of HL, CS, DoD, Op4, BS (etc.) installed prior to the Steam installation. I was therefore offerd the chance to create the Steam cache from my installed content, but...



Steam crashed part-way though copying the content to the cache! No files were created, as far as I can tell, but now it won't let me use the existing content, despite it still being installed/playable outside Steam.



Steam now wants to download 420Mb of Half-Life, 350Mb of CS etc. The problem is - I only have a 56k connection!



Please tell me I don't have to download 1GB+ of content over 56k!!! Can I manually transfer data to the Steam cache? Can anyone help me?

i dont get that anymore but in still hungs on validating game resources screen

It was supposed to carry all my old modifcations over, but it hasnt - how can I solve this?

I started steam last night at 2am, and i went to work at 3am, it got to the changing hl to steam cache, and that is it, when i got home at 2pm it was still in the same damn spot and i have no idea what it is doing or how long it will be, or if it is doing anything at all. kinda lame, i think that i will give it about a week cause this is not going to work, i wonder if valve peeps have any idea what they are doing to peeps, i do not thing they where ready at all, how can some get it fast and play and some not makes no sence.

No, we just realize that Steam is defeating itself right now. Its taking way too long just to update counterstrike, and they expect to send HL2 over this program? (i can just imagine the wait times for that) Valve must of heard the rumor that everyone around the world is willing to wait and wait, and then update, and prepare, and then update again. We've been fooled.

Ok, steam loads fine.



When I goto click on cs, the screen comes up fine.



But when I click on start a game or join a server it doesnt respond?!

And where the hell do I put in my CD key?
