Downloaded the full install from file planet, renamed my old steam directory, installed, created new account with different email address, and I have been fragging ever since.



Do not try to install over a failed install!

OMG to hell with STEAMingshit

Has ANYONE had this problem? I emailed them and of course got no reply.



PROBLEM: I have downloaded and installed steam perfectly yada ya its all god, BUT when i goto join a server it 9 times out of 10 disconnects my ADSL connection from my router and I have to turn it off and on. I say 9 times out of 10 because I have been able to play 1.6 a bit, and once its in it works perfect but its just getting in thats a problem. I have forwarded all needed ports. WHAT THE F**K IS GOING ON! anyone?

I dled full"cs"steaminstall ... cs works fine right now , but when i try to install DOD it freezes...bullshit...but still heh at least cs works fine..

btw any1 has same problem???

Steam's not freezing, it's waiting to hear back from the master servers, which are busy as hell. The only reason that this doesn't count as a DDOS is because they freely give away the client. Their servers are being hammered like <insert pr0n star's name here>.

Well I'm frickin STEAMing! I tried several times to install STEAM and it froze every single time! Next, I d/l'd the cached version (whatever the heck that is) installed it and it worked. However, no custom maps! WTF? A friend said it asked him if he wanted to convert his maps. So once again I uninstalled STEAM and all half live mods etc. Cleaned the system registry of leftovers. Installed HL and CS with all my customs maps etc.. Then STEAM and the program still did not ask about custom maps! Geeez! So how do you add binds and custom maps? If you need to edit files to do so what do you use?

Where have my Bots, my Binds and my sanity gone?

sigh. I have steam fully installed and all downloaded. So why am I downloading the cache file? cause steam eats my internet whenever i try to join a server so im gonna try this. :/ GG valve, CS and its fans are what made Half-Life still played 3 years later. So you buy out the reason your game is so popular and ruin it. Bravo!.

Well it looks like 908 other people have already said it in other ways but I, too, wish to add my voice to the many affirming that Steam should never have been. Nice try Valve to cut production costs and theoretically make our lives easier, but I for one would be much happer had Steam died on the drawing board.

guys! steam isnt bad! it just needs some work on it such as more servers for download... otherwise its an outstandind program! I mean valve did f' up pretty bad with this release but hey! everything will be fine in due time! just have patience and itll all be good =) i bid u guys good luck.. IM GONNA GO PLAY CS!!! I have one question ive been downloading from steam for quite a while and ive been noticing that my steam apps folders size hasnt been changing is the stuff its downloadind downloading to another folder or what?

the cache file contains the updated CS install so you dont have to use steam to upgrade CS. this solves issues for people having trouble downloading CS through steam.
