about that tron ad... i got a popup killer, and added the tron site to my black list.. so whenever it pops up i click it and it kills the site immediatly, the ad goes away and evreyone except the evil fools at gamespy is happy

Sorry this isn't exactly related, but I keep getting alot of pr0n pop-ups, regardless of what site I'm on. I've tried 5 different pop-up killers, and none of them work at all. Anyone know how I might be able to get rid of these damn ads?

It sounds like you have some spyware/adware on your computer. Download Lavasoft's Ad-Aware.

when you first use ad-aware you'll probably have around 200+ spyware files on your comp

eww fancy programs. regedit, command.com and notepad; solves 99% of all your virus, trojan, spyware, microsoft "friendly" install things(spyware/trojans in legal disguise)

I'd say that ad did a pretty good job. Whether or not you were the target audience, it clearly got through the clutter and you got the message. Maybe it did annoy you, maybe you won't buy the product, but you did read it, and that's number 1 objective complete. Advertising isn't necessarily about instant sales, it's about getting inside someones head over and over again and gently tweaking your disposition until you are just a shade more likely to do something you might have otherwise never done (see: carrot-top AT&T ads).

ya, don't dl so much porno.

But really, clean out your temp folder, and do a search for 'gator' and 'gain'. Delete anythign you find.

Also clean up your browsers extra installed programs (ie: Flash - though thats a good plug in ) you're looking for bad plug ins, like porno adware.

And lastly, if you use AOL, stop. Its the devil.

You know that's what really gets me. To my knowladge this PC hasn't ever been used to view pr0n sites or anything, and I'm the only one who uses KaZaA on this PC and I certainly don't download that sort of stuff. Yet we still get (well hopefully not anymore) bugged with it...... which I'm guessing means someone has been on those sort of sites using this PC...... me thinks I should take away my brothers' user account :p



Well anyway, thanks for the help guys. So far nothings come up, but knowing my luck the second I turn my back to the PC it'll have "Start wanking now!!" on the screen. Oh well, fingers crossed.... thanks again.

Well tis very rarely that I am sitting there doing nothing waiting for the text to jump up and tell me the bomb is planted.

I'm usually running around shooting and I only hear such announcements.

Seems like a slightly pointless program, kinda like changing the pictures for your windows startup and shutdown.

Actually, before I downloaded Mozilla (THE GREATEST web browser there ever was), I installed Comet Cursor onto my Internet Explorer, which comes with an AdZapper toolbar, which is still active even after I stopped using IE.



Mozilla with AddZapper is a great combo for killing popups dead. Plus with Comet Cursor, you can customize your mouse cursor (even though that seems very sad in a way).



Now if only I can get rid of MSN Messenger, I'd be set.



But yeah, back on topic.....this program really isn't all that necessary, is it?
