    review: cs dsp-500

Hello young chaps! I have taken it upon myself to review the recently released Counter-Strike DSP-500 headset from Plantronics. Merchandising scores another point! Here's a snippet from my review of the headset:
The sound output from the DSP-500's digital ear speaker processing units is great. Although I never could figure out if the thing supported EAX, many modern games are going with DirectSound and the lark now anyway. The 40mm speakers sound great in all games, and the 3D sound is very accurate.

I played games such as No One Lives Forever (a relatively old title), GTA: Vice City (a new one), and of course Counter-Strike (carbon dating required). Sound was great in each game. Sound while watching my collection of snuff films was also exceptional.
You can read the full review right here. It's three pages of the most sublime drama ever written, so please take two minutes of your time to skim it before going back to writing disturbing letters for that one girl you met at Starbucks.

Rizzuh, if these were just regular DSP-500s, what would you give them out of 10?

An 8 or 9, the price is what knocked down the score.

$110 is quite a bit of dough!

I was going to get some DSP's but the price tag threw me off. Now with a $60 plain-o in my sights, I'll be spamming away with my own rendition of the classic tune, Orphy Is A Faggot. ololololol.

$110 is a little too high for a headset

only $110 if you decide to purchase them direct from plantronics...

i dont understand how the dsp-500 got such a low score... its your rating system but i would say this headset is far better than the ls1 (.audio 60) which you gave a 9/10...

They sound okay. Money ain't a problem for me 'cause I'm a rich bastard. But I'd rather stick with my current headset. Not much point getting a new one when these do me fine eh?

I bet it's not as good as my POTD submission.

On the other hand, it probably is.

                  Beats me box though.

                  Definetely.

Erm did they stop to consider that the official yellow-blue color combination is a bit on the ugly side? Anyhow, I'm not in the market for a headset with a built-in soundcard box thingye, largely due to being poor, but could anybody throw me any recommendations on cheaper alternatives? It's not like it'd be offtopic or anything. (/lie)

I bought a pair of the regular ones in December they were about 80 bucks with shipping. I have to say they have done great and I wouldn't hesitate buying another pair if I break these.

I might get the DSP-500 (plain one), i currently have an audio 90 (exactly the same thing only needs a sound card, so probably not the same thing.) Reason being its rather annoying having to unplug my proper speakers from the PC every time i want to play cs properly with a headset. The USB model might be handier.

abysmal, that's why you buy a splitter that has a convinient little switch that switches from speakers to headphones. It's like 10 bucks from your local store.

edit: but yes, you'd be better off buying a usb headset rather than a splitter.
