"Believe me when I say (as the worst CS player in existence) that headphones are much better than speakers for gaming."

where's the consistency? am I or are you the worst?

tut tut is all I can say. And that alone is reprehensible enough, making me say tut tut, tut tut

Review the new senheiser pc 150's or w/e they are :O
I heard those are REAL good. If you already have a good sound card, then grab those for close to the same price as the regular DSP's, if your soundcard sucks, then get the DSP. If you don't want to spend $60 on headphones, the .Audio 90 IS the DSP-500 without the DSP part, and they're only $30 from Best Buy/Compusa/Other Stores As Well. I'm using them now, and they produce great sound, but I've already had them break on me. Even though I fixed them, Plantronics' stuff isn't the most durable in the world.

abysmal, that's why you buy a splitter that has a convinient little switch that switches from speakers to headphones. It's like 10 bucks from your local store.
I use a little gold Y splitter I got from Radio Shack for less than $5. I just turn up the volume of whatever I'm listening to at the time; headphones or speakers.

Another note: Rizzuh, don't you think some of the stuff you write is going just a little over the top on the "lets write random things-o-meter?" I'm just saying, don't want to 'cramp your style' or anything, but the review might be just as effective without you saying 'the 14 girls that I stalk' etc.

An 8 or 9, the price is what knocked down the score.

$110 is quite a bit of dough!
I thought so. I need a new headset, cause my mic broke, but my new monitor has a mic, so that that will hold me for now.

I was going to get some DSP's but the price tag threw me off. Now with a $60 plain-o in my sights, I'll be spamming away with my own rendition of the classic tune, Orphy Is A Faggot. ololololol.

Screw that. I'll stick to my generic radioshack head pieces and my clip on microphone thank you very much. Price, $20. gg

Screw Sound...what i like to do is start up cs1.5, then i hope and pray for a pop-up to come up and close out my screen while in game, then when i X the Expedia.com pop-up, mainly beacuse i fly JetBlue and dont use expedia.com and return to my game ..there is silence..I then say things like " Wow it sure is scary being this quiet and all" and "I think its a little Too quiet"...only to be dissed..well i think ...after all i cant hear anyhting..but the $60 price tag does seem steep to me for a god damn ear piece...and i aint even cheap..ill pay at least $15 - $16 for half a cookie...cause lets face it..who doesnt like cookies

Recent? These have been out for a while if I remember right.

Either way, you were right to knock them down for the price, $110 is damn expensive. Also, a little tip: if you want to use standard (the kind that plug into your sound card) headphones, go for the Plantronics .audio 90s. They're a great pair of headphones if you don't want to go the DSP route.

These are the same as the audio .90s only with a sound card?

Please explain why my audio 90s sound like crap. It's all hollow and shit. I've tried enabling and disabling EAX and it definately sounds better with EAX off.

I have a SB Live, with the default drivers from the CD. The newest drivers have this nasty habit of continually freezing my computer (win2k).

Rizzuh you didn't mention the fact that half of all Plantronics products will break or become falty within 3 months of use.

If you're going to spend a fair amount of money on headphones, go the Sennheiser route and get something nice.
