Lethal wrote..Wow, your morals seem to be a bit off. I don't know what motivations the intruders had when acquiring the Source source (the name is somewhat dumb), but surely they committed the bigger crime - unlawful access into a computer system vs. illicit possession of copyrighted material. As to the evilness of their actions, some of the people downloading the code may end up pointing out security vulnerabilities and maybe even making mod-type add-ons.
I don't know whats worse, the person who stole the source code, or the thousands upon thousands who downloaded it for "educational" purposes.
But about the leak-delay link, I agree with #22. Surely the delay can't cause THAT much rewriting of the code? If any security-related stuff needs to be recoded, well, good, because then it was unreliable in the first place. I suppose the CDkey authentication part may include actual secrets or w/e, so that bit may need to be reworked. I think that is has even been confirmed by emails from Valve that the leak did not cause at least the original delay.
