    HLGuard v1.20 Released

The guys over at United Admins have released version 1.20 of their popular server-side anti-cheat, HLGuard. Version 1.20 contains many new features, fixes and changes:
    • new speedhack detection (not full detection yet)

    • new server cvar/rules (now displays hlgsetting and configs loaded)

    • new config variables

    • new name violation config for auto-banning/kicking by player name like those wearing cheat tags like [myg0t] and [japs]

    • new ogc detections (via hlg_menu)

    • new more cheat detections

    • new online documentation

    • new now compliant with the new addon development standards

    • new now seperate distributions for linux (tar.gz) and windows (zip)

    • improved wallhack blocking (completely redone with less player flickering and vanishing)

    • improved dod support (less crashing)

    • improved aimbot detection (with various bug fixes)

    • improved config structure

    • improved hlguard setting use (on/off switches rather than level based)

    • updated hlg_menu to reflect recent hlguard changes in this release and prior releases
If you're a server admin, be sure to register an account over at United Admins and download the latest version of HLGuard.

Bout time, now if only servers would upgrade from CSGUARD and HLGUARD betas to atleast Version 1.07.

And then, if they'd actually enable the aimbot detection which seems to be off by default, along with alot of other features off by default.

I think they are similar in function to the PODbot "sound aimbot/wallhack" whereby the audio from player footsteps or movement is used to automatically lock onto players. The sound hacks are reportedly less effective than standard ones. And as Re-call said turning off footsteps is a very bad solution to combat those sound hacks. CS is probably one of the few games currently available where sound is a very critical part of knowing where your opponent is, especially if one uses EAX/A3D environmental audio or surround sound.

Te sound hacks seem like the aimbot/wallhack makers are getting desperate.

I'd rather have the ability to play at 100% not hindered and take the risk of having a cheater(which I can leave if there is) compared to not being able to play certain maps or do certain things before of a "helpful" tool. Of course the only map that sucks with HLguard sucks before HLguard. So really HLguard is doing me a favor. I really hate when it gets switched to awp_map...
