    Updated Aztec

Narby, hosted on CS-Nation, was kind enough to invite CS-Nation to test his updates to the third most popular map in online gaming: de_aztec. Obviously these images aren't indicative of the final map.

Be sure to click through below for a summary of the exact changes.

[break="more shots and summary of changes"]

    Narby sent along this changelog:
    • crickets significantly quieter

    • laggy lightning flash removed

    • new textures

    • reworked brushwork for better fps and quality

    • fixed 2 ``crate'' gaps which were being exploited

    • new style spawns with entry points

    • revamped bridge area

    • more detail items

    • reworked lighting in some areas.

    • fixed brush error near ct side bridge room

    • extra clipping to stop player traps

    • labels for bomb sites

    • no layout changes
The updates will be featured in Counter-Strike 1.6. Narby has asked that you leave feedback in the comments area.

Hmm.. I like the original more. Maybe I just don't like messing with something that's already so kickass

          Edit:

Maybe I should elabortate. The floor in this pic seems out of place.. I'm not sure what exactly is wrong with it. It just doesn't look quite right to me.

I liked not really being able to see through the bridge clearly. It made it more challenging for both sides.

The light posts look too clean, too yellow. Maybe dirty them up a bit? And add a generator box next to the lights.

The bomb site labels are too bright. Maybe make them more faded.

Of course those are jusy my opinions, so they don't count for anything.

Oh yeah, marked bombsites is great. I always just called that one water and the other just bsite now I don't have to go with arguable bsite names. I like the bridge because I could never see through those holes before anyways. Did it get rid of the thunder all together so I can just stop sound and get rid of all of the sound now? Good job.

Wait, it got rid of the gap for the T's to snipe through? GAH.

In pictures 4 and 5 there is a big gap in the bridge. Can you fall through the bridge into the water?

              And DIE crickets!

I like the "Reworked brushwork for better FPS and quality"

I always get a lower FPS on Aztec then most maps.

The new textures are alot nicer looking too. Now the ground won't be so ugly bright.

Now if only you could solve the problem of awpers. They awp at the bridge, water and the doors! Terrorists need a better way to get to the bombsite

That's gonna be weird getting used to, de_aztec it the map I seem to play the most. It looks pretty good though.

I've never cared about the crickets because I've had stop sound bound for maps like like aztec where you need to do it at the start of the round. Because of the thunder I might as well bind it to mouse2, heh. This should be marked as important though. T's need that little hole there to snipe through for balance. Well to kill anyone dumb enough to go on that side of the bridge as a CT.

Edit: Oh yeah, is the blinding lighting scheme that happens for an entire round randomly sometimes gone?

Balance? Yeah right, that's totally unbalanced. "Oh look I can shoot you and you can shoot some blocks and not hit me at all."

                            I think that's what's fixed.

Anyway, I dislike the new floor texture.

Is the structure of the map going to be changed? Or just the textures?

Edit: Nm, didn't see the changelog.
