Their ban list won't exactly be 'sent out.'



When a client connects to a secrure server, it checks to see if they are on the ban list, if they are, they can't connect.



If they have any hacks on when trying to connect, or hack during the duration of their play time, they will be kicked off, if they continue to attempt to connect to a secure server, or get caught several times, they will be banned.



Thats my take on it, at any rate.



Either way, this part is true:



Valves banlist is a universal one. All servers running in secure mode will not have to worry about banning each and every individual that cheats on a case by case basis.

CD Changers generally work like this:

Any way you put it, if you are forced to change your cd-key, its not for a very good reason, henceforth; considered a hack.



I assume their ban list logs IP's as well as WonID's and CD-keys. The only other way I could guess that Valve detects if someone uses a cd-key changer is if they send the client a 'patch' that sends a little string to the server that says, "Hey, I'm banned! Dont let me connect!" Which isn't much for security.

Yea I got banned today and admins said tehy didnt do it...but I know it's a conspiracy, that whole clan hates me. Mwhahaha. It coulda been a csguard bug as well. Oh well.

Um, dont you think that there shoulda been a message to all servers or something cause i was testing a cheat and i didnt realise i would get added 2 a master banlist.



It doesnt seem like i have been banned, but according to this i should have been.



I have never used a cheat outside of my server or lan so i better not get banned for this :-\

If they do use the ban list then system/bunny/phar and the rest if the team will be perm banned. Hopefully all there other cd keys are detected etc (if they have more than 1).Then it will hard for them to test cheats because if they get caught theyll get reported to the ban list

Ok, I have a problem with that CD Key change thing....... I have a 3 computer lan at my house and my friends frequently come over to lan. What happens when there are like 5 guys on my network using different CD Keys but have the same IP? Does that mean we're gonna get banned?



I really dont like the idea of a ban list, it can cause too many stipulations.......... Valve jsut needs to crack down hardcore like battle.net did. No cheats possible. They BETTER make sure that CS2 is cheat free 100% since its gonna be on a new engine.

I believe you have to be caught several times before you go on the ban list.

I really don't know if that cd key changer thing is right.. cuz what if u and your bro (lets say) share the same comp... but u both play on a server that has stats.. so u go buy another copy of cs and use a cd key changer (cuz its quicker) to change the key in the reg... How is a big master ban list gonna take that excuse... I mean in this senario I would have paid them money just to get banned... BS

In my opinion VALVe is doing better than Blizzard is. Maphacks, itemgrabbers, and pindabots all still work in Diablo 2.

Also, CD key changers are considered cheats and will be reported to the ban list.
