i think its called the "Nemesis" hack or something
???? You are truely lost. We only disable Nemesis... per the server admin's request. The server admin sets that variable. About the voodoo issue... thats not HLGuard.

What exactly have you done for the anti-cheat community? Sorry to ride on your back, but I've seen no proof you are who you say you are. Nobody knows your name, therefor you don't really have a place in the article.
Damn... you caught me. I'm not wtaag.

Seriously... If you don't know who I truly am... then you weren't around when CSGuard first came out. I wrote many of the first configs that were used. When I went to school, Bob took over. Now that I have more time... Bob and I work on them together along with the rest of the HLGuard team.

Your article is like a poor book report. Lacks depth and direction. How come no mention of Yensid? Yensid released his anticheat that paved the way for file checking. Then there was Jedinocheat. Remember the "Giving CS back to the players one ban at a time"?

You left out 2 major contributers to the movement. So I'd give you a C on the write up. How come you didn't interview anyone for any insight? I'm sure people over at UA would have been glad to answer any questions.

Opps... forgot about Paladin. Sorry wiggo :)

                  Hey guys...

I really appreciate what people have done for the CS community as far as anti-cheats. I understand you stupid hackers disagree, and say stupid gay-*ss stuff like, "It's just a game" and, "If you dont like it, play another game". Well, you know what? F*ck you hypocrates! If it's just a GAME, why do you HAVE to cheat? That's like sucking at Hide and Go Seek! What in the hell are you talking about? i can't believe you SUCK THAT MUCH at this game! I really like how some of you work hard for your skill in this game, though!

I am now kicking myself for not joining the CS community in beta 1-5, when there werent hacks yet, just hard-working players in a kinder community. THAT'S what CS should've always been like.

My visions of Counter-Strike's destiny do not look good however. For you see, I used to play the original Diablo game for the PC since i was 7. It was a very popular internet game at the time, and was very interactive on the net. Times changed, by the time i was 8 the whole Diablo community cheated and hacked and so forth. It didn't bother me, because Diablo was a co-op game (most of the time, until the *ssholes turned off co-op and went to ff mode.). I very soon put the game down, because they even had to start making servers DEVOTED to legitimate play. I mean come on! SO many people hacked, it was no longer that i could work together with someone to slay the Butcher or the Skeleton King before some shmuk went and killed every monster in the room with the click of a button.

You need to understand that no matter how hard we try, there is going to be someone that is working just as hard against you. Guys (and Girls), I tell you now to go and enjoy the hell outta yourselves at this great game, because it isn't gonna get much better. We aren't gonna be able to convince these people on stopping the hacking. Amen.

Cs in beta 1-5 wasn't a better community, there were just less people =P

As well, I have to agree that this cheat writeup was quite lacking. It described things with a very weird view of history =P Such as cheating death working.. for a time. It worked perfectly up until valve anticheat disabled it...

Cheats shuould only be used by the consumer in a controlled, private environment. I mean at home while playing Super Mario Bros. 3 on NES. But aren't "cheats" more for the developer, I don't think every game has cheats put in them for the consumer, maybe a select few... But cheats just help them when they're testing the game, so they don't have to go around collecting every last gun/amulet/peanut then having to test each one for bugs, etc. Cheats are then discovered by the consumer (if not released by the developer personally) through some sort of hacking, or I don't know how that works really.

Bottom-line: Cheats give you an advantage, this is acceptable, and usually up to the consumer/gamer 100% when he/she is playing single-player or similar type games. When other humans become involved (multiplayer) then cheating to give yourself (but not the other player[s]) an advantage is simply unfair (duh). When you cheat playing against the computer, they wouldn't notice the difference, they don't cry themselves to sleep every night because that stupid hax0r shot them through the door when I didn't even move and he COULDN'T HAVE SEEN ME. ahem. Sorry got carried away there.

Congratulations on your nice article, Exo, I am sure you would want to write much more than that.

I have played counter-strike using cheats since version 1.0, and I have followed closely everything that you said, Exo.

As an "other-side" view, I can put here my comments as the "victim" of anti-cheats.

                          1. Punkbuster really was a good program. Its auto-update feature blocked every hacking attempt to it. Nice program, blocked cheats as long as it existed. Those were times of colorer-models aimbots, spiked models, and rudimentary wallhacks.

Although it was good in blocking cheats, just a few servers had it installed. It was very not-user friendly, and was difficult to install. Yet, it decreased PING. So cheaters just went to non-PB servers.

                          2. Then CSGUARD showed up. Yes, that was a real pain. Unaware of the existence of this fresh-new program, cheaters like me just entered the servers to see the message flashing: "OGC 7 detected, you have been banned". Yes, that was the biggest impact on cheating community. Lots of cheaters being banned from their favorite servers. Anyway, it was not very often updated, and latest OGC always had it bypassed. Not that much effective, it was only good to catch "noob" cheaters, and to frighten cheaters-wannabes with messages as "cheater banned".

                          3. Cheating Death, definitely, was the best anti-cheat program. Anyway, its cheat-like loading mechanism was illegal in US. Its a shame that valve took the law on its own hands, and the implementation of VAC blocked the existence of CD, as it would be detected as a cheat itself, as it also hooked client.dll.

                          4. VAC, finally, was the most powerful anti-cheat software. It is MUCH LESS EFECTIVE than Cheating-Death or Punkbuster, but the "built-in" structure of it made it noob-friendly (no need to install), and spread the anti-cheat lema.

IT MUST BE SAID, that ITS NOT SO GOOD AS CLAIMED. VAC is, as I said, much worse in detecting cheats than previous schemes. Even after a long time online, VAC still cannot block simple cheats like OPENGL passthru hacks. Nowadays all vac is doing, is adding cheat-specific (and not general opengl hack) blocks. Its just changing one line of code and an opengl hack is vac-proof again.

Yet, VAC is updated in a VERY SLOW RATE, even with its 24/7 paid programmers. Its updated LESS THAN ONCE EVERY 10 DAYS.

Cheating community can make a new vac-proof multi-cheat 1 day after release of new vac update. If vac claims to be fast on updating, cheats are much more.

Who said counter-strike is cheat-free now? I will not put here any link of cheat-pages so that you can all see the DOZENS of cheats that are vac-proof, as I am not here to make publicity of cheats. But currently its very easy to get the so-called "multi-hacks" (called by Exo as "a few old, primitive hacks.").

Those "old primitive hacks" are in fact multi-hacks, that have functions such as no-smoke grenade, no-flash-bang, glowing players even in dark (Lambert), custom crosshairs, spiked/bright colorful models, no-recoil, and even auto-aims (aimbots). Those are not underground private cheats, but are available on any of the hundreds of cheater pages.

Yet, when you said that "OGC is no longer in development", as stated on OGC IRC channel, there is a new version of it to be released on 27th.

I really would not want myself to fight against somebody with those "primitive" cheats.

I accept your challenge stated some messages ago. Just give me the IP of the latest anti-cheat server. I will be glad to enter there, and take screenshots and record demos of myself making scores such as 20-1, and showing pin-precision aimbot action, in this cheat-free server. Just give me the IP.

Cheating community is very strong. And it updates much faster than anti-cheat community. Cheating is a plague, and this plague will never be extinguished.

Hugs from a fellow CS player,

I completely agree with brazil cheater. I have friends who aren't very "PC Fluent" and they found *working* hacks for counter-strike, and many other mods, in merely minutes. A simple search on any search engine will provide you with many many working hacks, which are fairly simple to install. OGC's simple wallhack for instance.. all you have to do is extract, open the exe, join a game, and turn it on! It doesn't get much easier than that. I would say that now, other than around ogc 6 and 7, there are more hacks than there have ever been. I personally have working hacks such as:

                              No-Recoil, Wallhack, Aimbot

I don't necessarily USE all of them (currently I have the wallhack and no-recoil installed.. aimbot makes the game less fun) but I DO have working copies of each. The cheating revolution has never ceased, isn't ceased, and will never cease to exist. Im sure that brazil cheater has been playing for a very long time, and is very skilled without hacks, as I am (Im not trying to brag, but Iv'e been playing since beta3) and CS just gets damn boring sometimes. Thats where our wonderful hacks come in to play. I don't see hacks as an unfair advantage, but a change up in game play which keeps us playing.

So just as a message to you anti-cheaters who are "praising exo" and "praising the cs community".. You say "we are good, we stopped the cheaters" and "exo, your right" but your not right. Cheating now is at a higher, more advanced point than it has ever been before.
