    CPL: Day 3 Semi-Finals

Both the upper semifinals and the lower semifinals are now over, along with the lower finals, sending DoP home and giving GoL a possible spot in the finals tomorrow morning at 12:00.[break="Click before I break off your fingers!"]PERSONAL PREDICTION TIME: If I had to pick a team to take it all right now, it would be DoP, GoL or Infinity eSports. Why? Many may flame me, but neither eSu nor SK have ever struck me as particularly strong in the teamwork department, as they often have outskilled a team but not always outplayed. I'd love to see Infinity eSports take it all given that I have (i think) 1/4 or 1/8 british blood, so I'm somewhat rooting for them. However, I'm 1/8 swedish as well, so I'm basically all mixed up about who to root for. DoP seems like they got by on a couple matches they shouldn't have won; namely, f-zer0 (if those aussies hadn't dicked around terrorist side they'd have won it), and mTw, which was on a map that mTw hadn't really any experience with. We'll see how DoP performs. GoL is just raw skill and teamwork, as they placed 3rd at the CPL last winter, and they now have an ex-NiP player on their roster. So who do you think will take the crown? Answer in the comments. EDIT - I-eS is out of the tourney; DoP has just been eliminated. Matches are done for tonight.

    [Lower Bracket Finals - de_inferno]:

Game onLine over Domain of Pain 13-6 - Tied 6-6 first half, second half GoL sweeped 7 rounds to take the win and secure at least a 3rd place finish.

[Upper Bracket Semifinals Results - de_train]:

eSports united over Game onLine 13-7

Schroet Kommando Scandinavia over The Speakeasy Offensive 13-10

Close matches, but SK managed to lock it. GoL is still in the tournament, albeit in the losers bracket now, so we'll see if either can mount a comeback. Upper bracket finals will begin tomorrow at 12:00 cst between eSports united and SK; that winner will face off against the champion of the losers bracket.

[Lower Bracket Semifinals Results - de_cbble]:

Domain of Pain over The Speakeasy Offensive 13-2 - This was a sad match to watch, as DoP just plain outplayed them. Sure, DoP did have the luxury of being CT side first and pulling a near 10-2 sweep, but I think everyone was hoping that TSO still had something up their sleeve. Unfortunately things didn't work out, and now TSO is out of the tournament. DoP, I need to learn to quit predicting against you DoP is now the last American team in the tournament.

Game onLine over Infinity eSports 13-9 - A very close match, one in which nearly everyone felt I-eS had a chance to pull through - unfortunately for I-eS, GoL captured victory and will move on to the finals of the lower bracket against DoP.

[Lower Bracket Quarterfinals Results - de_prodigy]:

Domain of Pain over RiotSquad 13-7

Infinity eSports over Gamers X 13-6 - This was a good match, despite I-eS completely owning GX. In the final round when it was 3 vs 1, a member of I-eS tried to sneak up behind trigga and knife him in style, but trigga turned around just in time for the kill, only the eventually lose the round. Great showing at the CPL, GX, but you're out of the tournament now.

Hey, i've made controversial predictions in the past as well

I base this one on the fact that TSO beat GX, GX beat mTw, and mTw has defeated SK...sure, my prediction does go down the line a bit, but I still maintain that TSO has the best strats of probably any clan in the world. Strats + skill will always defeat the clans who rely on purely skill.

touching back on my predictions, i'd say my most controversial one is SpaceBar - SpaceBar is european, so it's likely they don't know de_clan1_mill NEARLY as well as GX, and GX has skill enough to even beat mTw. The result? GX has a huge advantage by knowing the map better...but, like I said, I'm still going with SpaceBar.

ugh, the euro's aren't faring too well on clan1_mill...pretty dumb when you know both spacebar and mTw could outclass GX and DoP, but instead have to play a map they have little to no experience on, so chances are they'll both be knocked out of the tourney now when they should have each hit top 5...

Too bad for mtw as they are one of the last "stable" lineup.

its not like the euro clans couldnt download mill and play it, they should have been a little better prepared. but i do agree that the final results would be very different if that map had been an official map.

It's pathetically unfair, that they should have had to play such an American-biased map. mTw and Spacebar put up a brave fight, and it's a shame they didn't get as far as they deserved to.

I'd feel robbed if I were them.

Oh well, at least I-eS are through.

It's not fair. A conspiracy . They all want them dead. It'll be cool if they played AS maps. Well maybe not. But stick to the official maps .

Playing a map that is the offical CAL map, freely avaible on the net, and stated months in advance that it would be in the tourney is not fair? But it seemed perfectly fair that f0 won over 3D with the nade over wall strat...something not able to prepare for or known about. I guess the CPL follows the popular life trend. Unfair ;|
