y the fuck does cs get laggier and laggier????? Instead of improving the game they are destroying the game, i cant use rifles anymore, cause they are too laggy! Can't they just work and how to make servers faster instead of how to add things to the game we dont need?

maybe u have cheated once or have cheat files in your computer, and Valve Anti Cheat does not let you play :)

LOL oh real smart paragraph NOT. TFC is still the second largest online community right next to CS and DOD. As for DMC that's just a straight port of the original Quake 1 Deathmatch game. Ricochet is just a fun mod for about a hour or so.



Calling all 3 shit is just lame. It would be like me calling CS "shit" and you'd get all mad back at me. I'm a harccore TFC player, have been for over 3 years now with TFC and Quake TF. Everytime someone calls "any other mod besides CS" shit I always think they have a "small and narrow minded view" of things.

Facts:



- HL 1.1.1.0, CS 1.5 have 2 main purposes, update VAC and fix a LOT of bugs. That's important IMHO

- I updated my Steam version in 1/4 the time I spent downloading the regular patches. BTW I dont need to hunt ftp sites and so on and I get what I need. CS + TFC (no HL nor DMC). Steam is good for me at least... And still is beta.

-The richochet thing is small and his main purpose (as DMC was) is to teach coders about some new programming features (multi-server, model blending, flying entities). Anyway, the mod is quite small and I dont find annoying.



So stop whinning.

First and foremost, thanks to Rizzuh and the team for the good coverage today.



Now two things I have noticed:



-1.5 has increased my FPS and seems a lot smoother to me graphically.

-Pistols seem just a little bit more accurate now. (It could just be me.)

Steam sucks ok!!!! It was a good idea for the "private" beta testers. That was all. After that it didn't make any sense. And here's the thing about steam. You will not be able to use custom models at all. Just think about all those websites wasting they're time for nothing. If 1.6 goes Steam completely, you won't be seeing any skin of the week on CSN. The files are sent to you, you don't even get models, or map directories. The only thing I was able to change when I was a beta tester, was the titles.txt file because the "Retail version" gun names suck ass.



Just a few facts there. Also about that broadband thing, Steam works better with broadband yes. I'd imagine it'd be a real headache for 56kers.



It's better to have the files in a downloadable .exe file why? Because what were to happen if the cache for steam is lost? You know how many times I had to rebuild the thing? Can you imagine 56kers doing that over and over? HAHAAHA Valve is really getting funny now. Besides, if I know 56kers they'd have the broadband buddies burn them a copy of the files to CD :-)



I don't know if that stuff is true or not, but if it is, I'm sorry for you 56kers and all CS players, because CS has been going down hill ever since Valve got a hold of it. Valve has done nothing that Cliff or Goose could have done on they're own. Valve should just stick with the HL updates...

I got my update files Tuesday 11pm GMT from a UK server, first time and no problems :)

For all you guys set out to dis Steam, have you even used it?



1. It is still in testing - so Valve will see these potential problems and fixt them before it is released. Most of the problems people have been having will be fixed.



2. You won't have to download updates within 1 month of each other. Instead, you will get updates automatically and not even really notice it, thus eliminating tons of version numbers/tons of downloads and hassles for the users.



I am glad everyone loves to dis Valve too. You know, they must be the spawn of the devil or something. They have only added an Anti Cheat system that works, and added a few nice maps, and added some more upcoming features (in game chat, demo player). Yeah nevermind all that stuff and the retail version which has expanded the user base. Nevermind the bug fixes. Screw them! We don't need anyone who can actually be productive around here. I want beta 1 back! I want to bunny jump on cs_seige all day. It would really r0X0R. ... yeah (right)



Stop whining and if you hate Valve so much go play UT or some other game. Or go write your own mod. Freaks.



Oh and if you expect to keep getting every web service for free (like people keeping up servers for you, working on improving the game and fixing bugs, trying to eliminate cheating, the list goes on...), you are wrong. Everything is not meant to be free so expect to pay for something sometime in the future. I think when everyone gets into the real world and gets a job you will realize this. Unfortunately I will not be able to convince most of you, since your parents still pay for everything, and you want it all for nothing.



After this I only have one thing to ask

hey guys, first of well done on the mirrors page, i downloaded within about 10 minutes.



secondly however i've been getting the same message as a few others here "Error! Server validaton failed", this seems to happen at around 98 seconds from the 120 seconds it starts at, which leads me to believe its some sort of time-out. but the wierd thing is i could conenct to the same servers when i had 1.4 any help greatly appreciated



my pcs an 850 duron, 256dram , gf3 etc.

im on a 100mbps lan with a 10mbps connection to the net and its behind a university firewall (which i cant turn off) so i only get about 10 servers anyway, but they all worked in 1.4. ive got tcp/ip enabled of course and ipx enabled too.

How everyone moans at a game that has been made and modified over 3 years completely free. I guess the moaners also downloaded their copy of HL for nothing on a P2P network and generated their own WON ID, proberly using one that a paying person allready had!



With version 1.5 Valve has done excatly what I wanted them to do; stoped the cheaters even more, fixed a few bugs and put in a nice new map. "Thank you very much, we are most greatful" should be what all should be saying



So if Steam is the only way forward then thats OK with me, if they what me to pay a little a long the way thats ok aswell, after all they need a little extra cash after 3 years (CS:CZ is allready pre-ordered btw).



And finaly, a few people allways moan about the game running slow... I only got one word for you - UPGRADE
