hey not everybody is rich, and would spend 50$ on a mouse, i spent 20$ on my logitec optical mouse with the red bottom with the light, and i see no problems with it. the worst thing that it does is the cord can be short thats it

The dpi rating is double the explorer but to be honest I think they both track just as smooth.

I agree McClane, I also bought the MDO and returned it shortly therafter to return to my explorer 3.0 MUCH, MUCH easier to aim in CS, and just as accurate everywere else including art-based programs. (I use Photoshop extensively)

My ball mouse works fine. Clean it every once in a while, and it doesnt give me any trouble, so until this thing breaks, no need to spend $50 on a new one.

i think ball mice are the best.. you actually have a feel for the way the mouse moves..its more predictable than the fancy opticals, , i still have the 4 year old mouse that came with my computer, and it still does the job better than the intelli explorer

The Dual Optical ownZ. Trust me you will NOT be dissapointed when you spend your money on this! The best thing I've done to CS! I use to get only scores of 2:1 but now I'm up in the 3:1 4:1 area!

I've got both the MS Optical Explorer 3.0 and the MDO. I love the MDO very much; and the only downfall is the lack of button support in HL if your using the Mouseman drivers.



The Optical Explorer does have a better readings per second rating; but I run at a very high sensitiviy in CS (22.1 sens) and when you have a 6k readings per second the mouse goes nuts. And with the problems with the buttons being placed too close together so that you hit th wrong ones (thumb/pinky buttons).



The MDO's buttons are placed nicely; and the thumb button is in a great place.

If your looking for 'the best mouse' then don't buy either of them; spend your cash on a Boomslang 2000. They may not be optical; but they kick very much ass. :P

Seriously, you can't say that if you want a mouse you have to go with optical. Sure, I'm happy with my MS Intellimouse Optical, but what about the Razer Boomslang 1000/2000, the ultimate ball mouse?

Too bad the 2000 costs $100, something I simply won't spend on a mouse. Maybe if I could get it for $50. My Intellimouse is all fine and dandy, but it freezes for some reason during CS ever since I installed XP. Too bad the Boomslang doesn't have XP drivers yet, either.
