    the all-seeing eye

Looking for a good game launcher? One of the first launches anyone will recommend is The All-Seeing Eye. Is ASE the best alternative to GameSpy? Check out Exo's review to find out. Here's a tidbit:
When the ASE is downloaded, you'll immediately notice the all white/black interface. While it's bland, this cuts down on some of the stress put on your video card, which is important when you change your resolution multiple times to play a game. GameSpy Arcade's fisher-price interface and loads of extra images eats valuable memory, even if you have it exit when you launch a game. Though GameSpy Arcade does look better than ASE, does it really matter? You'll most likely only use both for a few minutes while finding a good server.

The All-Seeing Eye is a very original alternative to GameSpy's two server browsers. Other alternatives, such as HLiT for IRC, aren't even on the same playing field when it comes down to features. Once downloaded, you get a 21 day evaluation period, as mentioned before. When this time is up, you're prompted to either pay for a registration key or say goodbye to the All-Seeing Eye. There is no ad-laden free version.
Go read it and be sure to leave your own review of the All-Seeing Eye in the comments.

ASE tended to lock up on me a lot

at least didn't freeze while at 99% of updating servers like gamespy ALWAYS has for me.

I would use it, but when I launch CS with it, I never can get into the game, even when I type 'retry' several times. But it is true that the features make this a must have.

I would check out again. The team gave me a free key for the contest a while back (one person didn't claim his prize) and I've only had one freeze of the program (not my computer). Photoshop, Homesite, and IE have frozen about 20 times combined so one time is pretty good. GameSpy 3d froze a million times more for me.

It's never frozen for me. I've never registered/paid for it and it still works fine. So for those people who have no credit card, it still works just fine. =)

Oh, where can I find some of those mIRC scripts?

I downloaded it when it first came out, and the only problem I get is that their scanner might go down for a few hours once every 4-5 months. It's actually the only piece of shareware that I've ever paid the registration fee for in my entire life.

the best one by far is hlsw... www.hlsw.net ... first off you dont have to pay, second off it refreshs ping once a second, third off it has an irc bot for matchs. forth off it has a console in it, so you can do rcon commands through it. over looking what is going on in ur servers..... plus u dont pay a penny , its all free. in conclusion hlsw > ase

HLSW is the best alternative, supports many games, and can put you in away mode for IRC/ICQ/Etc... when you join a game. Plus it has a remote rcon thing so you can control your server from it. Eleet!

ASE rox it can be filtered so u can use the latest anti-cheat technology for example u can filter the servers so only servers with CS gaurd 7 or higher to appear. It used to support paladin and CD in the same way kinda neat idea

Well, u still can use ASE after 21 days, but i thought, ehh, whatta hell, let's buy the crap, if only for the ability to track all my teammates and some other on-line playing friends.

Works with lots of games too.

Right now i have AvP2, JediKnight2, HL+Mods, Operation Flashpoint, all of them supported.

D-load now and try it, u don't like it, delete it

ASE is awesome. I've been using it for quite awhile now, couple months or so. All I can say is download it. IMO, compared to Gamespy, ASE pwnz it. Gamespy sux0rz.

I've been useing ASE for several months, you can use it after the evaluation period, it just locks a few features out.
