The cvar exploit is definitely dangerous and needs to be fixed right away. It is disorienting to play a whole game with it constantly on, but if you bind a key to toggle it quickly between the shifted view and regular view, it can be very deadly (especially when your alias lowers the sensitivity when you're "zoomed"). You can't see through all walls with it but if there is any kind of opening nearby you can usually see right through, and thus it needs to be addressed as soon as possible (next update hopefully).Added @ [time="1020345074"]
Also when you watch in spectator mode you can't see the person's view change, I tested that out with some of my friends. So even if people dont want to use it to shoot through walls they can get a big zoom on guns that can't normally zoom (works well with colt,ak,deagle), and nobody can tell that they're doing it.Comment

I have seen it also, sad too because iv'e been trying to get a handle on the new 1.4 version for the last week and the cheats make playin headsup impossible. There is no way to defend yourself against another player running some ogc hack. Even if you call them out on the hack, they will deni it. I played on my reg server last night and noticed atleast 4 using something that wasn't kosher. O-well maybe divine intervention is whats needed to keep our beloved game fresh and unabused.......Die hackers, release my game and let my people go.........Strabo " Hacker-Hater and true Cs Warrior "Comment

This is going to be inaffective as hell.
They'll release a new server side update to fight cheats, and then the creators will simply make updates to get past them. Obviously VALVe doesn't have the time or enery to constantly make server side updates, nor do server admins want to download a new patch every few weeks based on blocking the newest hacks.
The BEST solution would be simple. (And without going into much detail . . .)
VALVe could set up a central server from which you must connect to before joining a game. Have their server check for hacks. They could update as often as needed, making it easier for server admins and players alike.Comment

llatest CSG + config seems to kick OGC8 cheaters after about 2 rounds. I have been testing it on my LAN. The most impressive version yet, but i dont fear it as much as i did the much earlier versions (before anti cheat programs where anything but a pile of crap thrown together overnight).
I'm sure CSG will "officialy" detect this version with a new version or config soon. Secure mode servers do NOT detect it by themselfs. SO if you are an admin make sure you keep your CSG updated, it does work and work well.Comment

Valve does care, that is why there secure mode servers are linked to a speakeasy hub and can download the latest anti cheat updates daily. (althought it is not fully implemented yet)Added @ [time="1020364096"]
Also. OGC 8 does NOT work with steam. Valve is heading in the direction of anti cheat, and they are doing a good job at it too.Comment

They care only insofar as cheats make CS less popular. According to my sources, OGC has been developed and deployed widely over roughly the last year, during which CS has become more and more popular. So why stop these super-cheats? Valve wants to move to Steam because it can use it to make money, not because it wants people to cheat less. Its all about the money. If you dont believe me go and read their broad-band operating model on steampowered... its all there.

Ofcourse valve wants to make money, they are a company and that is what companies do. Welcome to the real world. How do you make money? You provide a service or product people purchase from you. Why do people pay for your service or product? Because it helps them by either
-Being usefull
-Being entertaining
to 90% of CS players cheats are neither usefull nor entertaining. They are frowned upon. I know many people who refuse to play on pubs do to cheaters.
So if cheating is something that the majority (greater than 50%) of CS players do not want, then valve (as would any smart company), would not want to appeal to cheaters. Therefore they do not support cheaters, or like them.
Even when you take aside all the moral issues involved with cheating, it is in valves best interest to stop it. And they are stopping it. CS2 and TF2 will probably not have a cheating problem, atleast nothing near that of CS/HL.Steam is a broadband business platform for direct software delivery and content management. At its core, Steam is a distributed file system and shared set of technology components that can be implemented into any software application.
You're right it is all there. Valve wants to stop cheating. Refer to bold text.
With Steam, developers are given integrated tools for direct-content publishing, flexible billing, ensured-version control, anti-cheating, anti-piracy, and more.
Steam consumers enjoy the benefit of starting their favorite applications within minutes of confirming their purchase. They can access their applications from any PC. They are no longer challenged to find the latest updates for these applications. And they no longer need to wonder if their device drivers are compatible with the latest software.Comment
