Im sorry but that is just sad. I 'kill' people in CS, but I could NEVER point a gun at a living human being. I would have trouble handling a gun, I'd just be thinking of all the damage it could do...

I know what you mean, man. In CS I get a kick out of everytime i kill someone and see how much fun this is. Its one of the best thrills of my life too. But for someone like me to have to kill someone in real life, man... that is something I would probably be scared of doing, knowing the true value of a human life.

Ya, but wouldent everything be part of his killing, his parents, his social (lack of) life, and everything else. How can u take away cs, you would have to take everything else away with it. This subject cannot be related to one game/factor.

I go to a Jesuit (Catholic) high school...



I've never noticed the ten commandments in regular classrooms (of course they would be in religion class).



And this is a Catholic school.



Besides, public schools are trying to get away from religion in all aspects.



Btw, did the kid press "r" when wanted to reload his handgun? Did he have a mouse handy when he wanted to shoot someone? Blaming this on CS is completely ridiculous. CS doesn't give you any training at all when it comes down to reality. Does it de-sensitize us? No, any sane person would be disgusted and feel extremely bad for a person lying dead in cold blood. Just before the same person could have been shooting people in CS.



People like this look for an outlet. It used to be movies, then music, and now they are levitating to computer games. There will always be people finding outlets - and when they finally break, they may take on the fantasy of whichever one they chose. It was just CS this time.

I think the fact that a 19 year old had fire arms licenses had a lot more to do with this than CS ever will. Bottom line he went crazy for all sorts of reasons.

okey doke, sorry 4 bein wrong if i was, just quoting from a source which admittedly isnt the most reliable, although i still think there is something that can be learned, the quotes in the article are all genuine at any rate. Anyway, what happened there and in Germany was awful, but i really dont believe CS had a major influence in the guys actions. That CNN article spent more time reporting on Counter Strike than it did reporting on the gun club he frequented, does this seem absurd to anyone else?

ok first of all, what he did was wrong (DUH). But some people need to think before doing something that is stupid as is this. And him wearing a mask and black clothing pertending to be a Terriost was the stupidist thing a person can do. you have to know the fine line between real-life and a computer games. think if you drop ten feet from a ledge like in counter-strike you could do it in real-life? or just being shot once will hurt so bad that you would fall (even with armor) to the ground crying in pain. But is CS you can be shot a number of times and still walk/run/jump. So you would have to know whats right and wrong. COUNTER-STRIKE is fake not real.......so please get that through your think skulls. and to blame such a great game is just wrong. he was stupid, counter-strike is not to be blamed.

Jesuit in Tampa? I think our football team (bartow/gibson) played you, and got owned. Anyway.......I just did a HUGE report on hte effects of media violence on american minors (yes americans but wtf's the difference), and as a conclusion.....my thoughts on the issue were the same as before. It all depends on who's playing these games. Screw age checks on games, lets try sanity tests......maybe something that tests your quality as a human being? I play CS a lot, I love it, I love it when my mp5 explodes into someones head. However, luckily for me, I have the maturity to differentiate from a game and real life, unfortunatly, some people dont. Those are the people that shouldn't be allowed to purchase violent games, it influences them to heavily. Now I'm not saying CS is what influenced teh kid or anything but thats my view on it. Oh, and BTW.....I'm a great shot w/ pistols in CS (well b4 1.4 neways) and I was out at the gun range today w/ my dad (hes like real goodw/ guns and stuff) and lemme tell you......CS dont do shit for real life gun situations. Having a little crosshair that u move around is a bit different than looking thru the posts of a real pistol. ---Oh, and greenmartian.....the basic point of cs IS to kill kill kill kill. What, the bomb gets planted 1 out of every 5 rounds on a pub?
