1.3 jump plugin

Alright, jeez, dont BITCH about what you dont, or did, have, be happy with what you DO have.



Lag Jumping: Alright I see countless posts that argue that this would kill match play. This update has been out for 4 days and you can already tell the long term effects this will have? Sure, you SAY 50% dont like it, but what about the other 50%? Live with the change, or go re-install the 1.3 patch and keep playing that until you get bored.



I do not think that this lag jump would be the thing that makes this patch kill tournament play, I think that you would have to give credit to the hostages for that. Not being able to move them KILLS about 3/4 of the strategies for ANY cs_ map. If your smart, then you will adapt. This update will hopefully bring out more teamwork into the community. I have had no trouble keeping up my great scores, you will soon be back to normal, too.

the jump slow down thing is a fairly realistic update to the game IMO



however, problem is, there is very little realistic about cs movement in general..



if you want to climb some boxes in real life you dont hop from box to box you bloody well climb them, and everytime you reach a new level you dont slow down like youve stood in glue



if you want to clear a table you dont hop onto it and then off again, you take a bigger stride, which does not have the effect of slowing you down much



if you want to dodge sniper bullets, you dont hop around like a fool, you throw yourself to the ground and get out of there

My point is that when someone jumps in cs it is more often then not to preform a task which in real life doesnt require jumping... so why should you slow down so bloody much?

Adapt?

How can you adapt to spammge? I've just played spamming with a para, which i've noticed the accuracy change, and killed more people than if i actually tried. Its wierd, every n00b tactic that didnt really work in 1.3 is somehow extremely affactive in 1.4.

Yes, you can get a better and quicker shot. But the fact of the matter is you can't avoid being hit. For example, if i was rushing against 3 n00bs in dust, normally in 1.3 i could avoid many of their shots and maybe even knife them. Now, in 1.4 i dont have a chance. 3 noobs firing at me while i can't dodge is suicide. Now tell me, what is more skillful? The dodging asspect of the game is now eliminated. The game does not reward the skilled player, but rather the player with the most bullets in the gun he bears.

it's not even that i can't get adjusted to 1.4 the last times that i played i had 30-2 scores. but...it was too easy and boring. not the same excitment as before. ducking and shooting, for example with the AK is like having a 50% aimbot...since players can't jump anymore to dodge you (or if they do, their dead) you only have to aim in one dimension, left-right. makes it way easy to score millions of headshots, especially with the hugh hs-zones.

no fun though. i might as well play some old nintendo game with a light gun.

What really surprises me is the way valve acts, none ever asked for a jumping slowdown, however the implented it anyway, even though a lot of people complained.



And the sneaking speed, have you ever, ever seen anyone complain about that the sneaking was waaay to fast?



No, didn't think so, however, A LOT of people are complaining now, here in Sweden it's much like "1.4 is okay, except for the walkspeed."



And they also released both of these things without explaining ONCE in the forums, and a lot of people asked trust me.



They have also made the game easier for beginners, removing smart and skilled bombplants and so on.



And i forgot one thing, the sound that comes when you walk is just soooo fucked :/.

As everyone with a clue has stated, if you're not BHing, then the jumping change doesn't affect you. I get the feeling that a lot of you are BHing scrubs and are afraid to admit it. Why? Because we've already made it clear that you don't have a single leg to stand on. You're already grasping for straws. The jump in cs_italy? 5 seconds to relearn how to do it without slowing down. Same goes for every other jump in the game. None of which are mandatory, by the way. Bitch about something that makes sense to bitch about. You've got the weapon accuracy and the walk speed. Jumping is off limits untill one of you nitwits can come up with a decent fucking complaint.



And as far as this dipshit plugin goes, the whole plugin system needs to go down with the rest of the cheats. There is no excuse for players changing things to suit themselves just because they can. All of you jump-crazed 1337s need to realize that in the big picture, you are not the vets you think you are. People who have been playing this game since it first came out remember what it was like before all you jumpers. Then you guys came along and took this one small part of the game and turned it into a complete style of playing, for the worse in my opinion. I found myself starting to involuntarily jump all the time just so that I could still play on the pubs with you monkeys.



Well obviously cliffe and Gooseman didn't like this turn that the game was taking. I wouldn't either -- it would be like watching one of your children screw up their life. It is foremost their game, and frankly I will trust any decision they make because they have created one of the most entertaining games of all time in my opinion, and they did it for all the right reasons from the beginning.



Anyone who thinks that 1.4 removes "skill" from gameplay obviously had no skill in the first place. We (the original players) all had to adjust to your jumping, and we did it. Now let's see if you can play the game like it once was, and how it is meant to be in the future.

Yes, yes i do believe it detracts from the overall skill. Of course you can still move, but what good is that when even non-experienced playerz fire aimlessly from left to right. Plus, if you have ever been an experienced dodger you would have relied on jumping. If you were 1337 you would have prolly jumped substantially too. In addition, getting into firezones is one of the most exciting points in the game. To see that you have stood over the non-experienced playerz and they have realized that you are "skilled" is nice. Rushing was a very big part of the game, and now that you can't jump "detracts" that asset of the game. It removes a up to down dimension in the game. Strafing left to right can only take you so far, jumping takes that to the next level. In conclusion, FireF***er was right.

but seriously folks, play a little in the pubs with 1.4... the people who are truly skilled still play well. it's not like now every team is lead by someone with who has a 1:1 frag ratio and beginners are able to own anybody. this whole debate is really about whether or not you can consider jumping maniacally and learning to shoot that way a skill. and the creators of CS have decided that jumping maniacally is not a skill and in fact hurts the game. THEIR game.



(btw, this vast conspiracy to "equalize the playing field"/bring in new/noob players" that you guys talk about is ludicrous; gooseman and cliffe call the shots on cs's gameplay for no one but themselves... y'all acting as if they would take out jumping because Valve asked them to so that they could bring more people to the game... ridiculous! i don't recall there being a lot of "gee, i'm a first-time gamer and i would buy counter-strike, but that jumping stuff puts me off!" Then Gabe saying: "Boys, we need to increase our audience. Can you take out jumping?" Oh please.)



The creators/arbiters of a given sport/pasttime have the right to revise the game as they see fit to improve the gameplay. For example: lowering of distance for home runs, addition of 3-pt line, moving of 3-pt line, course changes at Augusta National. Sure, there are always people who complain, and there are always real players who step up and roll with it.



What we have here are a lot of people who all of a sudden no longer have their advantage, and rather than adapt and develop other skills, they decide to publicly whine about it.
