I still hate that Screen Savers show. They are so dumb. Rizzuh, if there is anything the folks at NerdTreeHouse can do to help you get some money out of TechTV, we are at your disposal.

Yeah, well.. extended play is a joke.... you rarely even see a PC game covered on it, its mostly console games, and console games are %90 shit. As far as TSS goes, it isn't all around a bad show, I'm surprised they would use material like that without permission... is sueing them in order? nah, perhaps they should plug the site on their show though? I mean.. that would have been better.....

Aside from that, I used to play DM... how much thought it takes still doesn't compare to that of CS... you have to memorize the level, yeah.. thats pretty much the same as all FPS games... and listen for sound the other players make (personally.. it took me about a month to master that ability).... now to become a better player I find myself trying to grasp where everyone is everywhere on the level by determining where my teammates are being held.. who's dying where... and what person / weapon killed them... (watch the dots disappear from your radar when people get killed.... ) That way I can always sneak around well enough to pull off a flank.... its a lot to grasp at once, but I'm getting there again (I had this ability before I lost @home about 4 months ago, recently got cable back... and have started again with *almost* as much skill as I used to have)... If thresh would have mentioned any of the abilities that need to be developed to become a REALLY good player instead of piddling little tips (who really didnt know that if you crawl up a ladder its about 1/4th as loud?) I would have been more impressed...

I'm not nocking DM, but it really just isn't as mentally involving as a good team game like CS...

Who would've thought that you would get your site viewed on TechTV. Awesome job Rizzuh!

Too bad the CT is horribly out of proportion to the rifle he is holding. Sorry to say but that is some amature 2d graphics there.

Yeah, but honestly, would it really have helped if he wrote a bigger article on CS tactics? Everyone who found these tips to be childsplay already know every trick in the book. It was just sort of a cheap tie-in feature as gaming really isn't TechTVs focus.

As for DM not requiring the same thought as CS, i don't know. I think it's fairly arguable. It depends on the comparison, DM vs. faggot clan era CS that we have now or vs. pre-bullshit CS?

Indeed, CS needs a community oriented organization like we had in the mid-late days of TF, the TF Junction (>J<) for short.... promoting honor, and skill above all else... its just too bad I'm not a person to take on such responsabilities. All it'd need is a couple of servers, and higher-ranking admins that would put honor and skill above all else, that can tell the difference between cheating, and skill (I really HATE being banned from servers because all the newbie admins think I'm cheating)... I'd have to say for awhile, it was the most fun I ever had playing TF when >J< was around.... they held ladder competitions (2v2 teams, or in some cases (4 team maps) 2v2v2v2 ) It was a lot of fun to have an organization that could hold -different- than usual experiences.

I still think CS takes more concentration than a game of DM, admittedly I don't play DM regularly anymore, so I guess I can't legally make that call... but when I play CS, I use more of my brain than any other game, the biggest factor involved is that during a good map (one that has a good flow design (dust is simplistic, but you have to admit it does have a certain flow to it.... ) I can sort of figure out where everybody is using all the information available to me (where my teammates are, where they've been, who's been killed where.... where shooting is coming from (from inside the hallway you can hear most of the map))... I just don't see you being able to do this kind of thought on a DM game, it lacks input.. and map design needs to be completely different because, well.. its not a team game. toodles for now.

Absolutely. CS could've been something really special if we could've grown into what we had with TF. Or, maybe it's just nostalgia. I remember enjoying the TF community far more than i ever did CS', but i also remember things like Kaizen which felt way too much like the clique-based clans CS now has.

Regardless take a look at the CoFR servers. The group isn't perfect, but if Bundy played CS, i'm sure he'd be a CoFR.

I still don't know about DM. Granted, you do use your brain picking apart visual and audio info as to where your teammates are and such, but i've found that 4 on 1 situations are far easier to win for me. When there's just you and one other person left, that's when things get intense. No teammates to watch your back, and both players are walking on eggshells. You go on 1 sound that lasted a fraction of a second to determine where on the whole map the other person is. 1v1 DM is considerably different than CS, but this factor translates over pretty well, especially before the time of Quake3.
