If Valve can develop a system that makes it easy to detect the latest and greatest cheats, it'll force cheaters to go so underground that only a few people would be able to do it. That is the most viable goal.Comment

You do have a vast audience rze. Getting passwords for servers is not what a normal cheat does. You might be creating a new interest for people who dont normally cheat.Comment

CD is bullshit, anything that modifies what you see visually and fucks with player positions blows my ass. I've found it's harder for me to kill shit on CD servers than on non-CD servers..... CSG >*Comment

CSG IMHO is the way to go. There is a massive community growing, and because it is server based, the client doesn't have to worry about anything, it's totally transparent.
There are various configs out there, some for LAN as well - which bans & logs by IP address.
With regards to Admin Mod, they have been saying for the past couple of months to auth by wonid/pass NOT Uname/pass. This is a bit tricky for prople like me who organise LAN events. Fortunately I have a very big stick & people tend to watch other ppl's screen's anyway. . . . . .

Played CS1.4 beta a lot, and I can report that I have seen a few wall hackers already. Its very easy to spot them using the 3rd person view and the picture in picture function that shows a HLTV map view following the player and his point of view. Who ever made the Picture in Picture feature should have a medal!
As said on other web-sites CS1.4 anti-cheat will first be active a week or so after the first full release. We can only hope that the CS-team finally has realized the importance of cracking down on the cheats.
Note to the good people that hold list of cheaters won-ids:
It's not worth anything I'm sorry to say, cheaters that put OGC or other hacks on their PC also know how to change their won-ids. I ban 2-10 players a day on our public server and a few comes back a day or 2 later with a new won-id!!, so I ban them again and the war continues... *sigh*Comment
