For some of use Server Admins, using WONID isn't an option. A little thing called LAN Servers. The WONID is the same for every player. And no its not a small personal LAN Server, its on a college LAN, with around 200 users, and quite a few cheat. So yeah I kinda see this as a problem.

Are you thinking of your IP? Wouldn't the WONID be different for everyone, unless you're all using the same cd key?

on LAN servers the client doesn't go through the WON authentication, therefore not giving a WON ID. :P

college LAn.. does seem like a problem. maybe should disable AdminMOD for the time being.

Well i think that we can all agree that this is a serious problem. because it will be so easy to lose control of servers now. Unless you can access them manually i.e. they are in the same place you are, but some of us can't do that and this makes it very difficult to maintain a server. I think all we can do is hope for a fix and a way to get by this bump in the road

I think OGC stands for Open GL Cheat, not that it matters.

Nope.....OGC dose not require Open GL

personally i dunno any one that runs a server with their name instead of wonid... :) but yeah, when a cheat starts including things like this its worrying, somday itll come packaged with a server crash script or something

pfft @ anyone who thinks this sort of news shouldn't be posted. Cheating is a choice and csnation is hardly making that choice for you by posting the news. At the very least it is an alert to those running admin mod of a possible security breach in their setup.

Could stealing a server pass , or screwing up a server be considered some sort of a crime? Im just reaching because i think it would be hilarious to see some of the OGC guys in prison.

Well hopefully Valve New Anti-Cheat will be effective. But it seems like everytime a new anti-cheat comes out a new version of ogc comes out and ends up not detectable. Simply ghey!

Anyways, can someone help me with something? Is there a program to allow you to either block out all text from everybody in CS or to be able to choose who to block? Either would be fine. Is there a command that can do this perhaps? I find that half the people in CS are more annoying than me and that's pretty hard to accomplish.

Cheating really is a choice and posting about it or not won't change the fact that anyone interested in cheating would probably go and find it anyway.



It at least alerts admins what they're up against and to do something about it rather than having them find out first hand...

This is a known issue in AdminMod, first mentioned by them in October last year! Any server admin running Adminmod should already be aware of this, and be following the recommendations the adminmod crew have put out.

Cheaters will get what they deserver... We can not be forgiving to cheaters, ever. I'm sure you have all heard of the CAC. They do have the cheaters WonIDs. Just go there and ban away. Specialy Admins. Once you ban them assholes, they aren't comming back. That gets rid of most of them. Soon they will be banned from all servers and be crying like the shit heads they are. Cheaters suck at life and will get what's comming to them, but do not acuse without knowing for sure. This is another problem. We have people who just acuse and do not make sure. We have to be swift with our actions. But we do not want to punish someone who has put a good amount of his time into the game we all love. We need to come up with something that autobans peoples WonIDs from the black list. Most of us are held back because we have all those WonIDs. This make take time, but in the end it'll be worth it. Soon cheaters will never play CS again. They will need to be taught a lesson so that they don't cheat in other games too. We as a CS community must stand up and do something about them. If we can kick them all out of this game then we have done something. I know most of you are saying... "Well what if they paid for the game???" I doubt most of them paid for it. And it's not our fault they cheat. Some guy kills someone.. "Well he's been good til' now" No he dies or gets locked up. It's just the way it goes. And they will get what they deserve.

Yeah, really. Obviously SOME people don't have their admin mod set up correctly and that's why they made their cheat log down the passwords.



nzAnon: You didn't even know, as indicated by your forum post, and I'm supposed to know about it? Yeah, in my journal of recording every piece of CS news ever for future reference. You HAVE to be kidding me, how can you possibly think it's wrong for us to report about a security issue, even if it is old.
