What a load of bollocks. I've been playing cs for a long time now and I still say its fantastic. Its still action packed and exciting with that certain essence that we all crave.

Frankly, I find the term "n00bs" pathetic, its ego boosting, elitest crap. Y get annoyed at beginners, bloody hell, its pathetic. I've heard this kind of rubbish b4, fear of the new, the establishment doesn't like change. Well, dont whine, deal with it. Its a sh!tty insult.

Cheaters annoy me, but im not about to cry about it, i just quickly change server or the admin just bans em. Unlike some of u i can handle cheaters being part of the game, it doesnt ruin my life and I'm not gonna whine about it constantly.

There r a lot of crap maps around like survivor, 747, torn, oilrig (!!!!) and thunder.

This article was basically childish: whiny and pathetic.

    I'm gonna go play cs

Three reasons why cs is bad now a days,

      1:lots of hackers and cheaters

      2:needs more guns

      3:new maps

I totaly agree with Batman and Swaino. Just find a good server (with Csguard) and let the fun begin. You'll make buddies (can't really call people you've never met "friends") and you'll use voicecomm and have lots of fun.

Using the term n00b is definitely elitist. I've been called newb plenty of times even though I started at beta 5.2. You miss one shot and all the smart asses start shouting noob. My buddies on my favorite server know better than to call me noob even when I mess up.

But why is it pathetic and crapy and elitist? You might as well say the distinctions "rookie" and "veteran" when applied to pro basketball players are no different. Of course, your counterargument could be that pro BBall players know what they're doing going into the game. But, not only are they completely new to pro ball but they also still are the new guys. Class distinctions are unaviodable.

So what should we call the new players to CS, then? Or would you rather do away completely with any distinctions between those who are new to the game and those who have been playing for awhile? I don't see why the term "n00b" necessarily has to have negative connotations.

I remember starting out at CS and other online games and being called a "n00b" or a "newbie." Well, it was the truth--I was new to the game and I sucked. If you operate under a different criteria for what the definition of a "n00b" is, then perhaps you've got a point. But if you're saying a n00b is someone who is new to a game, in this case CS, then I'd say it's a fitting definition. It's up to the one labeled such as to whether it's taken as an insult and whether they are mature enough to handle being called that, or suddenly feel like their entire character is under attack.

I aint no veteran cs player but i have been playing since 1002 was released around july 2001. it has changed alot in many ways. recalling baack then aaround 35k ppl pld cs, now its in its 80k. i think thta there are plenty of vets out there who hardly can get into a server without finding a cheater on board.

regarding maps, i hate most maps i play day in dayout, aztec, dust, survivor. there all overplayed meaning ppl quit cs due to boardom. yet more make up for those losses. all the good clans who were there from the start have drifted away due to cheaters.

n00bs are a big problem, so many coem in every week, but its a joy to come across them and completely own them 100% :)

i for my luck have coem across a great server on jolt owned by clan -=[GSU]=-. i advise u join them 213.221.119.11:27025.

cheaters, well, we can only hope that anit cheat software gets stronger to combat ogc etc. for the sake of cs, ifnot cs will die

Speakin as a so called "noob" i can understand what you are saying. However you have to realise that not all Noobs are first time FPS players and just because someone gets lucky with a headshot doesn't mean they are a cheater. Most of the servers i visit are overloaded with "hack" and "cheat" calls when all the person in question was doing was using some skill and some common sense. ANd also remember that all of you where newbies at one stage or another and alot of us gain in skill rapidly.

I consider 6.5 the pinacle of CS... I'm sure many of you will disagree and go on some insane beta 5 & p90 rampage but please refrain (actually, free speech.. go for it). A slew of weapons, spread, new game modes and good netcode made it one hell of a release. At this time I was the so called "newb", but I had a friend (Sublyme, dumb CSN poster cause he sucked rz... that's another story) who introduced me to it and told me to touch hossies to get them and how to plant was kind of natural (pull it out and "fire"). Well newbs are needed, the first people to play CS were newbs, but now they're vets who are reveared for their mastery of the game. Back in the beta days newbs were plentiful, but the fact is the community was much nicer. Most people would take their time to explain and the rest would just say "close, or good job". Not one between when I started and before v1 came out did I ever hear someone accuse someone else of cheating, it was just unheard of. Now we've got newbs everday and the community has just gone to hell. So many cheaters who think they're hot shit on a stick cause they can get 12 headshots in a row with their aimbot, so many newbs who run into a gun battle everytime without using sound and then knife their teammates. CS might just be at its best with 1.4 (but I haven't bought the para yet, must whore tonight.. *drool*), many new fixes and tweaks are being made to make the game more interactive, more fun, and trying to make the community closer by integrating all sorts of communication (ie, tracker & the now -old- voice comm). Hopefully STEAM will detour some cheaters the fact is stopping cheats is useless. Right now as a beta tester I'm happy I can play a game of what seems to be "cheat free" (omg!! no cheaters (yet)!). However today I updated CSGuard on my server (it now blocks ogc 732b released a few days ago) and then I see OGC 732c is out and now CSG doesn't catch it. As soon as it's fixed it's broken.... Q3 might be riddled with some sort of odd quarks and it's not everyone's choice, but the community is soooo much better. I can join a server, have my ass handed to me but in the end it's just "GG", "NS", "I got a tip, <insert gameplay tip>".

I'm sorry CS has gone to hell, yet I still play the damn thing... damn crack!

I think 2 things are ruining CS

                        1. Cheating

                        2. People with big egos, which is related to the above problem

About 50% if the cheating accusations I've seen are just from guys that can't accept someone has a very good record or can beat them. That is just sad, this happens especially on servers with regulars who usually do very well. O wait, one day someone better comes on and they are cheating, cause no one can beat "me" or player xxxx. Yep, I've been banned because I headshot 3 people in 1 round, I mean, what kind of evidence is that?

I think its also hard on the "newbies," I see a lot of a time people (who aren't very good themselves even) typing insult after insult at other people because they've never played before. Way to go, they complain about cheaters, and they are inadvertantly creating some or ruining someone elses game.

I agree with Swaino in a lot of ways, often some idiot is yelling "newbies" all over, and when someone beats him, he starts whining "cheater!"

Another comment regarding teamplay. It seems that the majority of players(even some good ones) believe teamplay to be everyone following the supposed "best player."

                          1. One this gets boring round after round, and not every plays with the sole point of winning.

                          2. you even get yelled at cause you decided to stop walking into the barrage of AWPs(which is what has happened for htel ast 10rounds) and go around back.

                          3. Since you got them from behind and kill like 4 or 5 people, and just died pathetically from an AWP round before, you are cheater as well as not a teamplayer...

tsk tsk newbie, too much choler there...on another point, good article mr. bond. i see where you're going with this. it's true, there are many newbies all over the net, although there are a large group you dont even see who only play in internet cafes because they dont have cs at home. btw, try joining a newbie server and play for like, 3 minutes, rack up a 10-1 score and watch the cheating accusations fly...
