Im not sure why people are so annoyed at n00bs, Im sure that every pro was a n00b once, but maybe today's n00bs will be tomorrows cs pro's....

I read over all these comments and agree with most, there sure is plenty of rants. I would just like to say that no matter what happens I have been playing cs since before the beta 5 days. Back then it was good, and today I find it just as much fun. I think that, yes, cheaters are a pain and should be destroyed (or brutally killed). Yet, I find twice as much enjoyment going after cheaters and killing them, it merely makes me feel better. Don't get me wrong I do not believe that cheaters are good, I have just learned to live with them. Now, some will say that I cannot say this as I took 6 months off from CS after getting angry at cheaters, but this is my feelings of when I returned to CS and killing them damn cheaters.
As CS progresses in its evolution new features come out, little things are tweaked, it is merely a process of creating perfection. As each release comes out sure it, as many say, "sux", but after a while you grow to like it. Interestingly enough I think that being in a clan also helps you, for it provides a close group of friends that you can play with and trust and know that they are not stupid. I know this doesn't apply to all clans but atleast for mine it does (www.ravcrew.ca). We have been around for just about two years and we are all good friends. It just adds to the CS experience.
One last thing, I agree with RetailSUX about FF. I find it to be a very nice realism factor addition.

Contrary to my username, I don't just observer CS, but play it relgiously every night. I am pretty good - Call me the upper-average player who can finish in the top three of whatever side they are playing on in the upper teens. Not perfect, but not bad either.
The main thing I think that has been expressed here and I have to agree on is that, aside from cheaters, is the utter lack of DISRESPECT for players on most of the pub servers has seriously detracted (detracts) from the gaming being able to do what any game is for: To have fun.
It's not just a certain type of player either. Meaning, it is not just Clan members who think because they are in a Clan they automatically own everyone and then throw tantrums when people not in clans rack up the kill board with them. It's not the quote-un-quote Noobs who come on and try and spam the messsage chats and try and disrupt game play either.
It is ALL of these things and more.
And the stuff I am referring to goes beyond normal "trash talk" that you normally associate with any kind of comeptitive game.
I'm talking about the racist, sexist crap that is passed off as "trash talk", but in reality is really how a lot of people feel about certain races, genders, sexual orientations, etc.
Granted, I am in my late 20s, so these things that I find offensive, many others who are younger may not...
But the problem is when it detracts from EVERYONE's enjoyment as it offends someone and then they get pissed, turn on their hacks and ruin the game just to get even.
Aside from a few other factors, this lack of disrespect is part of how the cycle of cheating starts at it's most basic level.
And don't get me wrong. The game itself - a killing game - is NOT the reason why people disrespect each other.
It's the fact that people are so used to throwing things away in our society that they don't think twice about dissing someone on the other end of the net since they will probably never, ever see or meet them in real life. Add this into what another poster said about instant gratification via cheats instead of taking the time to hone your skills and voila! This is the cycle of cheating and what CS has online gaming has become in general.
In closing, while I agree with parts of Mr. Bond's article, I also think he may have possibly been able to express his feelings a little more coherently to avoid some of the ill-will and elitism that the current article seems to express... Even if he never meant it that way

CS seems fine to me. The game play is still great and Noobs become Vets. Yes, you do have to look a little harder for good servers now, but thats fine with me. Let the newbies do they're thing and we will do ours. Great new maps are coming out and I like CS as much now as I did the first time i played.Comment

Alot has changed! I was forced to quit playing back about 18 months or so ago, (REALLY piss-poor5 56k internet access where I live) not too long after we got double pistols =) I played on the ReTrY server(s) out of houston. Wow, great games, I was the typical n00b when I started, but before I left I had been accepted by clan ReTrY, it's sad to hear that the n00b's are getting rude and cheaters are so prevalent. Dang, and I get cable modem in 4 weeks and can play CS again.....Comment

the game used to be great until popularity came in and then the newbies then hackers. But i can get over that mostly because i have been playing for about oh two years now. I don't care about the newbies because they are so easy to kill and the hackers i don't care about cause now a days they have anti hacker ware for cs like punk buster.Comment

Well i have been playing cs on and off for tha last 2,5 years and I think I have become good sort of anyway...... i have been accused of cheating alot without cheating (that is very fun) and now i look forward to cz.
Well cs playing have lost much of its former "fun to play" feeling i think its almoste some style "always camping" on all servers to a degree anyway..... try playing on inferno when the ct team camp on both a and b bomb site not so very fun but fb works very good..... LoL have a very good life all you cs fans and players. wfh[SmiskeR]Dasse.
