..so gay.. fucking march, if CS continues the way its going.. relistic, n shit, over half of the ppl who play now, will stop, me, iv been playing since beta 3. and i thought 1.3 was the best version of CS there was. i mean, couldnt you just add the anti hack to 1.3?? ugh, just bring out CS. CZ sooner, no point in keeping it that long.. ppl will lose intrest in it. well, thats just one mans opinion.

Well I'd rather have people bitching about it being pushed back than people bitching about them releasing an unfinished product.
Did you not read my post? Why can't it be released on time AND be a good product?

I troll the site mainly because I like to be kept current on news but you guys seem to be a little slow on most things. Does anyone play Doom 2? CS will take a HUGE pop drop after CZ gets its outdated release.

This does suck. Although Gearbox has a history of putting games out on time, the trend of pushing back release dates to continue working on titles, made famous by Blizzard, has become epidemic in the industry. While I'm highly disappointed, I'm not incredibly surprised.
blizzard learned their lesson with starcraft, and no longer gives release dates other then "when its done".' personally, i am all for this. the thing is, with companies like sierra, the programmers say " we could probably have it done by X" and then the fucking marketing guys go and and use X as the official word for the release, and publish all sorts of ads, make all sorts of announcements, etc. and tehn the programmers say ""well, that was a guess, and looks like we won't' make it by X" and then the publisher does one of two things : ships it out all buggy as hell and incomplete ( ie BattleCruiser , Windows 95 - Me), or 2) pushes back the release date (ie, CS:CZ).

frankly, i would rather have a late game than an unplayable game. so until marketing people throughout the industry, and the world at large, pull their heads from their asses and quit being idiots, treat the release date as the fantasy it typically is, and buy the game when it comes out. and as for people bitching about "the old engine", fuck that. the engine isn't what makes a game great. look at games like StarCon 2, which still kicks ass, or tetris. you gonna try and say that tetris sucks because it has "blocky graphics". if you say that, then i say nothing, because you obviously aren't worth speaking too =P

Because its obviously not finished yet, if it was finished on time it would be released on time. They're not delaying it for a laugh, I'm sure they wanna release it as soon as they can.

On time for CS:CZ is obviously too soon and if it was released it would be an unfinished product.

I usually don't whinge about release dates and the like -- I'm all for getting something out when it's done, and not a minute earlier. If Gearbox has issues with the current state of development, there's nothing anyone can do about that, and our lives aren't going to dramatically change because CZ has been pushed back again. Still, I don't see CZ doing that well with such a late release. I hate to speculate on the life cycle of Counter-Strike, but it does seem as if it's running on fumes as of late (of course, that's been said by many people time and again), and interest in CZ may well have waned quite a bit in eight months' time.

Counter-Strike's continued popularity can almost certainly be attributed to the constant slew of updates, even post-retail. Nearly a year of non-growth may well be enough this time to dampen the community's enthusiasm for good.

The problem any outside developer is sure to have in developing anything for Counter-Strike is the fact that the community is always happy to criticise. Get it out too quickly and they'll be wanting the heads of Gearbox and Valve for releasing a sub-standard product. Postpone the release and they'll be ranting and raving until it finally is released, then they'll complain about how much it sucks for a few weeks -- while continuing to play it, for some cryptic reason. However, I'm still not sure how the community's gonna swallow the year of dead air between 1.5 and 1.6, unless Valve suddenly decides to pull a rabbit out of their hats and give us something to chew on until the CZ update gets here.
I'm gonna write a book. gg

No shit. I am very disappointed about ANOTHER pushback but I will be buying it. Why? I like the game. Outdated or not, CS is still fun to play.

Just because it takes a long time to make doesn't mean it'll be good.

And name a good game that took a short time to make. Jedi knight 2 is the only one I can think of.

Hmm, I guess they are trying to make sure that the game is as obsolete as possible before they release it. It had better be the baddest ass game I've ever played for it to take this long to make.
