I think my impersonations are pretty close to the mark with all these lamers bitching and moaning that they can't hop and need to work with their team.



I know with the new patch teamwork will not develop suddenly, but I also know that when they take away things like bunny hopping, people are going to have to concentrate less of how to run up their kill score by rushing ahead and hopping to victory, and are going to want to stick with their team more.



I just think there should be more of an emphasis on teamplay with each patch. I wouldn't mind if some teamplay options were server variables, that way servers that don't want teamplay can turn them off.

I remember the first time I played Counter-Strike. I just so happened to download it the day beta 6.5 came out, so I thought nothing of right handed models. At any rate, as_oilrig was my first map. At that point, I truly fell in love with the game. No, the map isn't all that great, but I just loved the gameplay. The fact that you had to wait after you died added to it's "i want to fucking kill that guy who killed me" factor. At any rate, it's been quite a while since I played and felt that way about the game. It's getting a little too old for me, and nothing has changed much.

I've been playing CS since day one. I've played when it was long-sleeves versus short-sleeves. Mansion and Desert ruled the roost, and Docks and Siege were always in rotation. Those were what alot of people call the good ole days. Well they were good, but better is coming. The new version promises to bring a fresh perspective to CS, a perspective which many will disagree with, seeing as how they cannot bunny hop anymore. However, I feel all the changes in 1.4 will make CS a more robust game and give it the edge it needs to stay an "oldie but goodie". Most of my time is spent testing various mods [DoD, UP, et alist] and I feel that the new version holds up very well. On the whole I must say CS is an old game with relatively few new tricks. It has a couple of goodies which make it a very addictive game. IMO keep a copy of 1.3 around for the LAN's and play 1.4 online. LAN's are fast paced and 1.4 is not. CS has been a great game for the online community and to keep it that way lets not try and improve much on whats already perfect.

Though CS is aging, I honestly can't think of a better FPS for any system, with any scenario. CS is getting old, right, but we have to think back at what it has accomplished. Its been from being a homemade FPS with 10 servers, to a huge empire with over 10,000 servers. CPLs, Mods, skins, fansites, merchandise! CS has undoubtably been reasponsible for millions of dollars...CPL, Clans, domain names, servers, programs, retail value, Torney winners, merchandise, and publicity.



In addition, CS is not newb-friendly. For the two people I have inspired to play CS, the setup was a daunting task.

Forgive my laziness for not reading all the other posts, someone may have already said this.



Does anyone realize how monumental it is that there's still a rabid fan base behind CS after three years? Like Gorktic said, games usually fade out completely after an initial hype of a few months. CS has kept growing for three freakin' years! I'd say that's pretty huge. Now they've just gotta continue improving it to give people even more reasons to keep comming back.
