CS is definately getting old. I can understand people who've been playing it for a few months, but for those of us who've been at it for years (I've been playing off and on since b1, steadily since 4 or so) it just gets tiresome after awhile. The same repetitive experience game after game just gets... boring.



In the context of online multiplayer, cheating is NOT "part of the game". Simply because cheating exists doesn't mean that it is acceptable, and it certainly doesn't mean that it's "part of the game". It's pathetic when people cheat online. Nobody is going to remember that the CT's won such-and-such round in this game or that l337_M@5t3r got 30 frags. They might, however, remember the prick who used wall hack or the guy who clearly had an aimbot and ruined the game experience. I have to admit though, it's sort of funny to beat obvious cheaters without using cheats yourself :).



I still can't understand why people BOTHER to cheat in pub games. Are we really so obsessed with winning that the quest for victory overshadows the quest for fun?

That's what I did too. CS got too old for me and after OGC 6.13 I lost my belief on CS's better future. I'll explode other people with satchel charges and shoot plasma filled electric disks ballistically on other peoples toes than try to survive in a middle of aimbot users.

Looking at the current results of the poll, I can see what's going on. 48% said that CS "might" be getting old. Might?? It is old kids. Coming up on 3 years, and that's ancient for a game. (At least as far as the casual to mid-level gamer goes. I'm sure there's the "Hard Core" fans out there who will play CS until the day their computers will no longer allow them.)



I understand this devotion though, because there was a time when I felt it. There was a time where I would use every resource at my disposal to defend CS, but now...I can't be bothered.



CS is dead for me, and many others. For even more it is simply dying. Either way, I'm sure that approximately a year from now CS will be but a memory.

3 years isn't old for a game it if the game 0wnz like starsiege: tribes did, that game will never get it old. it is like 5 years "young" (since it can't get old :) the gfx are nearly as good as cs and the netcode is about 100 times better. everyone that says they like fps games needs to have played starsiege:tribes or their no good at all.

cs old? well name one game that every time you play is diferent. cs is like a snow flake never the same. Yeah the maps may be the same,weapons,money and so on..... but the game play is never the same (if it is loose the bots find some humans to play).this game will last just need to fix the hacks.

I believe that some games just do not age. I mean, look at Final Fantasy 1 for crying out loud, i still find my self picking up the blocky NES controller and thrower that game into the oven of the NES. It just never gets boring. I'm not saying that CS will have this kind of gripping ability, but the game sure has potential to be one of the best online games ever created.

Just a few things to say, cheating does ruin the game not just because of the actual cheaters but because whiners.... to me there aree a lot of sore losers out there. To be honest I'm pretty crap, and normally get an equal kills-death ratio... notmally about 10-10..... but still get accused of cheating when I get my one and only HS! Personally I cant wait for the anti-cheat patch, but cant wait even more for the anti-whining patch



One more thing, CS seems to be more deathmatch orientated... this is because of the scoring system... you dont get any extra score for completing an objective. Now take Quake III (Boo... hiss!) You play a game of Capture the flag, you capture the flag you get points added to youre score which gives a true reflection of the game.



Introduce a new scoring system.... and re-introduce teams trying to complete objectives!

heh to me cs isnt old... iv played it 2 years and some months way back when colt had zoom is all i can recall. iv played off and on for about every other day for those 2 years clocking insane amounts of hours. There was another guy said it was like a drug im with him i cant keep away. my comp went down and i couldnt play for 2 months!!!!! i nearly went batty :) but now my comps fixed and im playing more then ever. To me its all about skill of fighting other humans, 1st place on the score board whle helping the team reach the top while fighting off a rival??? whats better then that :). I live for the fights that have you and your rival going matrix at each other. I hate cheating i never have done it once in all my time playing this game. some dont belave that but hey thats their problem. cheating has no honor a world without honor is doomed. iv only been in 4 clans iv made alot of friends..and enemies :) but all in all i cant see this ever getting old... ill most likely die at 87 years old face down on my keyboard. typing imy last GG!

Good point [SpacE_MonkeY], together with the "tweak" in jumping this might help CS alot to get rid of DM fraghunters.

CS is old to some people and not to others, its a bit like asking if ppl would rather watch Empire Strikes Back or Phantom Menace. Empire is old, Phantom is new[ish]. Empire is better ,so probably most people would say Empire.

Same sort of thing with CS, yes it is getting a bit old, but it is still alot better than most[if not allist] of the recent multiplayer games out there.

Until CS:2 comes out ill be playing CS atop of any other game. Even then , it might not be as good as CS so i may go back to it.



Just a quicky, How manny ppl here would be willing to pay a monthly subscription to play cs?

If you do have to pay to play in the future i can see it going 2 ways. There will be the people who will pay for it to have a cheat free enviroment and coz they love playing CS and will be happy [Me]. Then there will be the ppl who think that if they are paying to play CS THEN BY THE CHRIST IM GONNA DO EVERYTHING IN MY POWA TO BE THE BEST ON EVERY MAP,EVERY SERVER I GO ON [ie cheat,or find ways of].

But hopefully by paying to play it'll get rid of alot of the cheaters coz they wont have any funds to pay for it since all they do all day is sit at home hacking instead of goin out and earninig a slice.

Except for ppl under 16 who wont have a credit card and will have to be sooo good for mummy and daddy and do all their homework and hence turn into a good little boy who wouldnt cheat anyway. :)

yes. cs is old. i have played cs since beta 3. and since beta 5 it has only gotton worse. i wish beta 4 was still around and people still played it. i would play it all the time. I LOVED BETA 4 and all its bugs. p90 whore fo' life.
