I dont belive that counter-strike is getting old I just fear that new weapons and gameplay may ruin the fun. An example of this is Condition Zero - the rocket laucher has been added and from the screenshots that I have seen, and this has the same idea as the rocket launcher in tfc..... Im just wondering if this will be a clone of tfc (I know that its nothing like tfc) figuring that you don't see S.W.A.T. teams carrying rocket launchers around. But hey, thats just my opinion. Think what ya like :-).

My point was, don't get swept away by cheating mumbo jumbo. If you spend all your time bitching about something that wont go away and can't cope to it, then your lost. Truly, what turned me off about CS is how complicated it started to get. Punkbuster, different files, corrupt d/l's, all a prime example of a repelling CS. CS was fun when you could totally pwn a server and be congradulated. Now days, if you pwn a server, the bitches come out of the woodwork - "w@LL h@x0r! get out our server bitch or get BANNED!!!"
It's a game, don't stress, be happy - play it to have fun.

gobd wrote..yes cs is getting old, go buy tribes2, oh btw rizzuh weren't you working on something to fix the distortion in the SOTD pictures?
It's fixed, but this one was submitted a while ago. I believe we've already seen a few examples of the "technology".Comment

Don't worry {$T}JoEbOb, from what I know the LAW will be a 1 shot only weapon (meaning it only carries 1 round of ammo), so probably it will end up just being a fun weapon (like the current Para) instead of a real effective one.. :)
CS 1.4 will rule.. Just like all the (many many) previous versions..Comment

i agree mrfodder, I hate that genuinely good players get persecuted because of the (understandably) growing paranoia surrounding cheaters. Some people just aren't willing to accept that there might be anyone capable of playing well nemore.
The problem is i also know what it's like when there really is a cheater on the server, blatantly speeding about and headshotting ne1 on sight - it's pretty hard to ignore them and take them in your stride when they eliminate your team in a matter of seconds. Even though you can either get rid of them or leave yourself it's still an inconvenience, and one we shouldn't have to put up with.
That's why I look forward to anti cheats in whatever form they come and I smile rather evilly every time I see something like -
"admin: -=OGC software detected on user **iownzj00** =-
**iownzj00** left the server"Comment

I am very critical of a game and graphics does not rate top tier for me. Counter Strike is one of those games that seriously captured me because of its ingenuity and mostly because of its fun factor. Good god I still remember gracing the servers at my college with the good ole [R] tag before my name and hearing or rather seeing the frustrated groans of people as they saw my name pop into the server (which coincidentally is LuftWaffle, not the one from here though
) Even after 4 years of playing the game I am not at all too bored of it, there is always something new to do, another way to get better. I seriously don't mind the graphics and running at just above 30 FPS I think its just fine and dandy. I find game play to really increase after a new patch is out. Ok fine call me a dumbass but I would rather see CS getting a bit more like rainbow six rather than Quake 3 Death Match or Unreal Tournament. I am however rather saddened by the fact that not many people or mappers give attention to ES and other types of maps. I wouldn't mind seeing those more often since the few that I did play (I'll mention ES Cell, a clan favorite of ours)and found very enjoyable and very exciting since it does seam to include the type of gameplay that most of the CS community craves; seek and kill. On the other hand the vast hordes of newbies that the game attracted is really the main thing that in my opinion is causing the downfall. Inadvertantly age has caused a mass exodus of people with total disrespect for others to plain and simply destroy our fun. Yes it was addressed and I do mean cheaters. Now adays I can't enter a server without having at least 3 people acctually cheat and several dozen more be accused of cheating regardless. Thus to make a longer story a bit shorter, I have to say this... Age does not play all that big of a part in the downfall (if there is a downfall) of CS. It merely brought about another peice of the puzzle that did.

BlintzKriegs's right, every server has at least one hacker and most servers have people accusing others of cheating just because they are good..... But about the LAW cannon,I believe that it should cost like $12,000 for if it didnt youd have a team of people armed with all LAWs. Plus it would be nice to see it be the primary weapon so u can only buy it instead of having a gun and the LAW :-). But I agree totally about how hacking ruins this game but I geuss we will have to deal with it until 1.4 comes out with anti-hacking software (hopefully) .Comment

Being a frequent player on a hacker infested server(Don't ask why), I encounter many whiners, complainers, and i'm-the-friend-of-the-admin-who's-gonna-ban-your-h3x0r-ass as well as hackers. Now a days I've noticed a decline in hacker ability(I myself have glocked one and my 11 year old brother owned one with a knife). Hackers have become an idle threat and do little damage in the servers i play in. The main ruiners of CS are the whiners. They are incessant annoyers who accuse any little headshot and lucky through-the-wall frag. Anti-Cheat software will be greatly welcomed hoping to silence whiners and hackers.Comment

Just a response to the article and to Mrfodders comment (No:4)
The article was well rounded and a good read.
I am also not playing as much cs as i used to.
This has mainly to do with the amount of Cheating M*@$*a F*&^erz that seem to be on virtually every server. To quote Mrfodder "Cheating is a part of gaming - complaining about it makes you sore loser"
Listen you cretin, cheating is a part of gaming yes, but it should be left to single player games and not be brought into the multiplayer arena.
If you want to use "godmode" or the likes go for it. Just not in a game against other people on the net.
How can an "aimbot" be fair go in a game where reflexes and skills are what make you a good player. It's definately not about what cheats you have and where to get them.
This really does piss me off because the whole point of he game is to use your skills to overcome the enemy and accomplish the objectives at hand. "objectives? what are they?" i hear some of you cry.... Yes thats right there are actually objectives in cs. Some people don't realise/remember that it is not team deathmatch.
As a final point, i would like to say that while cs is becoming an old game, it will be a very long time i think before it has vanished from the face of the internet. "Why?" you ask, well thats because people like multiplayer games and for the fact that you dont need some expensive pc with a one/two gig processor to play it. There are alot of us out there that cannot afford them and wont be able to afford them in the near future

AZN has a point too.. I guess. So far when ever I encountered any cheater they sure as hell knew how to use and usually prevented any kills from happening both to his team mates and to the opposing teams. Now of course if your in a room with no acctual cheaters but a bunch of paranoid people we have your situation, the Salem or the CS Witch err Cheater Trials. The floor is open to errum random accussations. But then you have to think Azn, who's fault is THAT in the end? The people or the cheaters who make everyone else paranoid about each other.Comment
