Since 6.5 I'd been hunting cheats ! - Back then, cheating was SO easy, but now we got a war on !
Some day, I hope, cheating will be consitered a crime. Morally, it already is !
But what puzzels me, still: Why do the cheatwriters dedicate their life to ruin others funtime ????
Why do they spend their skills to proof that thay are not trusteble ???

Frankly, cheating should be stopped.
Cheaters wreck the game. They definitely do not add to it. If I am fragged by a person that cheats, it pisses me off. But, if I am fragged by a highly skilled player, that's fine. However, sometimes there is a fine line between those two for some, but allegations should not fly, though they often do.
I feel your pain Apocalypse, highly skilled players can be seen as "cheating" when in fact they are just better than the average fragger. Ridding ALL cheats is not possible, but stopping it to the best of the gaming world's interest is fantastic.

Why hasen't anyone yet rewritten some of the most popular cheats , and put a little suprize in them, like a program that deletes essential files , or destroys the bastards system in some way?
It could be a foolproof way of getting at them, say by making a mod that let them use the cheat for some hours, (so that the poor guy that just want to check it out to se what it is all about does not get harmed), and then let hell breake loose. Maby a little bit harsh, but if you download a piece of program to make life hard for others, you should expect that someone might get back at you......Comment

I am sure you non-cheating guys agree that cheating sux. A couple of time, I ran into games with cheaters. They are kind of annoying but, guess what, it will make you feel proud if you kill one (cheater). The first annoying thing is that they always shoot me from behind the wall as though they can see through it. The other thing is they always getting headshots. You never have a time to play properly with them around.Comment

I like the gametiger idea, I used it another day, but for my surprise, the cheater had admin rights and kicked me by console. What a shame when an admin guy play using cheat. This is the kind of thing that ruins the game.Comment

Clearly I have missed most of the discourse following a superb article and novel aproach to "getting one back on the cheats".
But what I have not missed, unlike many people hear (e.g. Ak0dz; "Who Cares?"), is the point of this aticle.
And what is the point? Well, CS, like any other game, be it virtual or real, is based on a players natural ability to compete fairly but at the same time, doing their damndest to win. Fair competition is what makes a game enjoyable. Knowing that you have a chance (after muchos practice) to take on the likes X3 and NiP players, and WIN! Without having to worry about question whether or not the enemies ur shooting at are using unfair means to increase their chances of winning.
Clearly in a game where you can physically see your apponents cheating is kept to a minimum. In a virtual arena, like the online multiplayer games industry, we lack the ability to see our apponents and therefore cheating becomes a viable option for several reasons. Maybe its simply a person seeing whether or not they can get away with using OGC 7.2 or whatever, maybe its someone creative enough to desing a completely revolutionary cheat, just because they felt up to the challenge.
But whatever their reasons, they are ruining, what used to be (and still can be) an extremely fun game to play.
Right, im getting a little off-track here, but my point is we should be doing every thing possible to get rid of cheats. How else can we play in tournements and leagues in confidence?
In fact, possibly the best reason for a complete anihalation of cheats from CS would be that finally, you'll stop the mass of allegation and spamming after a player shows some skill, and is henceforth labeled a cheat for all eternityComment

Anist, great idea with the "undercover" work against cheating. Sublyme, great article! I never wanted to read something as much as this in a LONG time and believe me, I hate to read :)
I think, in 1.4 or CZ, they should have a system that will send the DEFINITE cheaters's IP and info to ALL servers and will automatically ban them. If they have been labeled incorrectly, they should be allowed to email the CS Team and they will pull their info out of this "doomed" list. It will prevent the cheaters from ever playing in public servers and it will server them right >:) ALL CHEATERS SHOULD BE BANNED FROM GAMES FOREVER!

Dear guyz, there MUST be a diferent between them and us !
1. Chazz tryed to make a "Godmode", but all it did was formatting C: !
2. FatherOfWormes made a fake cheat once, all it did was giving the mailadd. and IP on anyone who tryed to install it ! (You'll be suprised who tryed to !)
If we wanna be the good guyz, lets not use the means of the bad. But beat 'em clean, as in CS. I do frag cheaters on a daily basis. They are not that though, if you know how to handle 'em ! - Bullet in the back ! (Funny how they allways complain about camping :-D)Comment

Headshot cheaters can be shot in the back for the very best result. However, I really don't know how to deal with those who shoot you from behind the wall or something that you absolutely cannot see through. I hae once encountered such cheat. One guy was camping in the backmost crate in de_dust (the other bomb site other than CT spawn). Then, he shot me from there as though he can see through the bloody crate.Comment
