My parents hate CS. They think i'm addicted, which I am btw. But they try to take it away from me, either by taking my computer out of my room or by disconnecting my internet. Damn them. They don't know what its like to be me. CS isn't a game that you waste time on for me, its therapy, to cure my depression and chronic insomnia.
^exactly my situation except insomnia, i cant play for 10min without getting bugged anymore, and my parents are cancelling dsl for our "family relationship" hmmmm... i think im going to be more pissed off at them now and our relationship will be worse
but on a better note, i picked up paintballing as my new hobby good fun, and nothing is going to stop me from going to every LAN possible ;pComment

CS is a tricky topic, and I have a lot of views on it... I'm giving CS a break for a while, since I really think as a whole it has a negative effect on my personality. I've had [manic] depression, and I've felt that CS has some play into this problem.
I've become "too good" for my liking in CS. But the aggrivation that CS brings when I'm not doing up to par with what I am used to, just adds to my general agitation. And to top it off, there's lots of negative players that frequent Counter-Strike. Nothing like the rage and inconsideration that goes on in CS pubs.
Years ago before I figured it out, I'de get pissed if the parents wouldn't let me play CS. Although they rarely intervened in my playing, the anger it would cause towards them was a bit extreme. Now I see it as any mental addiction... CS simply is a game, but innumerable kids today push to be allowed to play this game more and more. CS is an escape like any other game, so when parents let endless CS go on, it's like a kid given as much candy as they'd like.
At this point, I don't think that CS is bad because it's violence, but more because it is just another pleasure that some people take too much of. I almost wish that my parents had put a stop to my endless isolation and CS play (during the times that I intensely played CS), because now I see how it has influenced who I am - And I think I spoiled myself with too much of that "good" thing while my parents were left in the dark.
