In case it wasn't made clear, this thread is about CS1.6, and the new elements it adds, not on whether you support Israel or the terrorists they fight. Don't invest a time into posting on the latter subject, as it'll just get deleted.

[Edit: Section removed due to complaints.]

As far as the AWM/P goes. Yeah, take a hit in the torso/head with that, and you're going down hard, flack jacket or not. Take a hit in a limb, and you're going to be in no condition to move (legs) or shoot (arm), plus you're in serious risk of bleeding to death with time.

(You know, perhaps one of the biggest downfalls of CS is the fact that it seems nearly impossible to find information on the REAL guns used these days, and instead you just find a bunch of CS sites.)

Anyway, in CS, if you started implementing locational damage effects, where you suddenly couldn't walk if you got hit in the legs, or your aim sucked if hit in the arms, it would honestly take away a LOT of the fun of it. Would you like to suddenly be unable to move after taking 2 glock shots in the legs? How about if you couldn't hold your assault rifle because you took 1 hit to your hand with a stray shot from the TMP? CS, as it stands, is a nearly perfect balance between "realism" elements, and "arcade" play, where you minimalize all the real-world issues into a few basic, easy to understand issues.

In real life, you could shoot your 9mm handguns at a flack jacket, unloading the whole clip, and not a one would penetrate. Granted, the wearer would be bruised up badly. A shot to the top of someones helmet might knock them unconscious if done from the right angle, but it certainly wouldn't physically harm them. But wouldn't the handguns in CS just suck even more if the enemies could survive full clips into the chest?

The point I'm trying to get at is that putting too much realism into the game would actually harm CS in terms of how fun it is. If you want a game where you have more realistic reactions to getting shot in a given location (the above listed ideas), then I'd recommend Operation Flashpoint (a military game) or something.

In CS, though, the AWP is the all-mighty one-hit sniper rifle. Like it or hate it, it's in there, and will probably still be really effective against shield bearing weenies. At least it doesn't kill with legshots anymore, eh? And whoever suggested the VIP getting a shield in as_ maps... that was a horrible, horrible idea. That'd render half of the T arsenal USELESS on those maps, and make them even less popular (I'm not bashing them... I love as_oilrig, but many people somewhat dislike the game type already). As if the 200 armor the VIP has wasn't already enough...

Actually, I would tend to argue that the FireArms team actually makes an effort to have all of their weapons balanced and somewhat useful. I say this because there are more than four weapons in FireArms that have the stopping power to kill something on a regular basis.
It's been a good long times since i've played FA, but during the time i did, it was more of an "eeny meeny miny mo" deal in choosing a weapon. There was an unnecessarily large selection of overlapping crap , and they all felt like they had no weight to them because the gameplay made no sense. Same kinda deal with FLF. That's what i was referencing.

All you people are busting on the 5-7. I have used it just for the heck of it against AKs at long range and ended up the winner.
Either the person with the AK was blind and firing full auto, or you were lucky. Period.

Does anyone really give two shits about how real CS is? The guns are merely models and skins with names and aren't meant to accurately represent their real life counter parts. The point of a game is to have fun, CS just tries to relate with real life, not accurately depict it. What really matters is the weapon balance. Is the AWM unbalanced? Yes, considering it only takes only shot to kill the person, and this doesn't even have to be a good shot, you don't even need a fast reaction time. Someone can put 3 bullets in you with an MP5 before you even get a shot off and you still kill them. How balanced is that? Now tell me how adding more weapons to an unbalanced game is going to help?

I don't particulary care but it's just when they say that it will get more realistic every time there's a new release, it does get a bit stupid. Only recent bit of realism was removing bunnyhopping, and all that happened about that was complaints.

When is the M60 gonna be implemented by the way 'cause I'm looking forward to that.
