I hope that long term bans come soon.

If not those, please for the love of all things good, have a wonid searchable database of people who have gotten the one days bans.

A better solution might be to actually have HL change the way the names are displayed of people whose wonids have EVER been detected cheating. Perhaps appending "suspect" in red or something to their name like the mod The Opera. This is VERY possible, don't say it isn't.

        The day VALVe takes over

October/03 Valve has finished testing the Anti-cheat. The people they have paid to work with VAC have found successfull methods to detect each and every cheat on the most popular cheat sites. Eric Johnosson calls for a meating with the rest of the VALVe people to discuss how to release this update upon the pubilc. They all agree that they will implent the complete VAC and enable perm banning at cs primetime, 8 p.m, without telling the public. This action is simullar to the one Battlenet used against the cheaters in Warcraft 3. The day has come, the 21 of october. OGC and Joolz have both released updates to their cheats a few days back and cheating is at it's peek. At precislly 8p.m 6.000 WONID's are being banned and out of use. This crackdown is greatlly appreciated by the public who have started to trust VALVe and praise them for the crackdown on cheating. With this newfound trust in VALVe alot more people will buy more products from the company that "cares" about the players.

Pure fiction, was a litte bored as you can see :)

What makes you say it happens in October/03?

Here is a declaration I made up for all cheaters. (Originally from one of Bush's speeches). I hope no one feel offended. (except cheaters).

Online gaming itself was attacked this morning by a faceless cheater, and online gaming will be defended.

Make no mistake: The Honest Players will hunt down and punish those responsible for these cowardly acts. I've been in regular contact with the vice president, secretary of anti-cheat, the national anti-cheat team and my Cabinet. We have taken all appropriate security precautions to protect the gamers.

Our military at home and around the world is on high-alert status and we have taken the necessary security precautions to continue the functions of our community. We have been in touch with the leaders of Congress and with world leaders to assure them that we will do whatever is necessary to protect online gaming and gamers.

I ask the community to join me in saying a thanks for all the folks who have been fighting hard to prevent cheating and to join me in saying a prayer for the victims and their families.

The resolve of our great community is being tested. But make no mistake: We will show the cheaters that we will pass this test. God bless.

...And so to put an end to online cheaters (who we funded and trained) and make the online community feel safe we are now going to destroy Quake3 as some cheaters play it or so my Cheif of Staff tells me.

Blizzard has banned over 14000 Warcraft III cheaters in the three months Battle.net has been running it. Good work.

Ask yourselfs this, if you made an Online game, would you permanently ban cheaters?

If Battlenet banned the cheaters for life theyd loose 14.000 buyers of theyr future releases

A majority of these cheaters most likely didn't acquire their copy of CS legally.. or they have stolen multiple CD keys. Although I do see your point. And I realize you're not applying it fully to Counter-Strike.

It's been said before, it'll be said again. Because there are still kinks to be worked out. Think about HLirc, if they had global banning while that happened, we all would have been very unhappy.

more like they'd gain people buying new copies of the software to get around the ban
