i wanna try out the missions, since we probably never had any except for vip, bomb, and hostage scenarios.

oh, and who says "you got A-W-P'ed", and not "you got Oped"?

      it doesn't sound right.

I like how on the poll right now there are 309 votes and yet it's reading a division of 50%/50% for each voting option. How entertaining. Can I assume that the numbers are somehow rounded off?

I suspect someone went out of his way to get it to come out A-W-P. Never heard it said that way once today, though op was said frequently.

I'm waiting on CS2 more than CS:CZ. I'm hoping for a new game engine. With all the research and beta testing they use CS for, any new engine should run good.

Well the only reason to call it the OP would be over voice chat or in person while your playing LAN because you need to get out as much information as you can, as fast as you can. But it seems like A-W-P would be the proper way to pronounce it anywhere else, thus by the majority of people. For Internet Relay Chat, who says "erck"? I say "Eye Are See". I am guilty of calling mIRC "Merk" though.

i call awp a-w-p because it sounds better to me.. sounds a lot more deadly than op... i think of mIRC as merck in my brain but i say m-i-r-c outloud just because the m is lower case and irc is upper case showing that its an acronym not a word, same with AWP

Quit foolin' round MikeJ, we know that OP is really a subtle hint telling telling us about your moderator status.

There never was a CS1.2, it went straight from 1.1 to 1.3, but thanks for revealing that you haven't been playing CS for very long.

Sure, you can assume that. Or you can assume that I randomly pick percentage numbers, and type them in, because I like to control the turnout of the polls. It's really up to you.

Live life wondering if the polls mean anything.

Yes, and we call the PIN you use on your ATM a "pin" not a pee-eye-in, but we call the ATM an Ay-Tee-Em not an "at'm" or something. So, I think it just varies on the convenience, and personal preference.

My only beef is when people repeat the last word in an acronym, such as "ATM machine" and "PIN number" and such.

I call it "merk" too, even though I pronounce IRC as the letters. Regardless, it's an old debate, and doesn't matter.

Heh, I guess I wasn't the only one thinking that, especially with all this talk of IRC. :) Welcome to the elitest club of CSN moderators, MikeJ. Isn't it somehow satisfying to wield a small amount of power?

Pity on the lack of a mailbag. Perhaps the delay is due to my 20gig text file submissions overloading the server...

I usually only hear "Op" over the voice comm, but most of the people I know personally who play usually say A-W-P.

I never even thought to call it "op" until like 3 months ago when I started to hear it on the servers I frequent.

What engine is CS2 going to use? I've always assumed it would be on the TF2 engine, but I guess that's not neccessarily the case.

I'm an "op" fan. Just because it's an acronym doesn't mean you can't say it as a word. It happens all the time. Just look at NATO, NAFTA, WYSIWYG...I could go on...

Hmm, the pole so far is half and half. I guess the people that want to buy Counter-strike Condition Zero are the same people that own Opposing Force, and Gunman Chronicles.

                                I can't wait for CS2, and HL2.. I just hope I get more than 20 fps. :P

And to MikeJ.. We still love you.
