VAC Updated Today

VALVe has done it again:

We've updated the public security modules again. These security modules detect a bunch of the new client hooks that have been circulating.



Your Counter-Strike and Day of Defeat servers should update themselves automatically. Let me know if you have any problems with these security modules and we'll look into them right away.

Almost every VAC update you hear the same comments.

Since this came out I cant connect to some servers (n@rby's clownhut for one). I get a Host EndGame: Server Disconnected.



I turned off winamp (in case it was hlamp) but I still can't connect. I can connect to some servers, but I've found 2 that wont let me.



Anyone else have this problem?

Glad to see they are catching all these small third party cheats. I saw a blatant OGC* hacker the other day.



*not OGC obviously, that's dead, but it was aimbot/wallhack combo as obvious as the old OGC hooks.

I'm not gonna ramble on this time about totalitarianism and sociological implications... but hopefully I will have a new essay to get you people raging about CS and VAC and cheats sometime this week.

If it's anything like your last one it doesn't hold much water. I don't see how a cheat free environment can affect the integrity of a player. "Oh darn this guy is owning be, he's obviously not cheating, that's impossible, I guess I just really suck at this game I better quit now". I think to some degree it is nice having a clutch there "oh he's probably cheating". And VAC isn't going to take this away, even if it's secure secure there is always that thought bouncing around in the back of our heads that this guy that just headshotted us from across the map had some sort of advantage over us that had nothing to do with the skill, VAC or no VAC. Anything Valve does to level the playing field is good, and can't possibly be bad.

... so you see, fun gameplay is like the puppy in that, it was lost, and found by his owner(VALVe).

Same here, somebody from a clan my clan was scriming gets 3 1-shot headshot's in a row with a USP. He couldnt have been anymore obvious. Why cant people play the game like its supposed to be played

Although the fact he says they only updated it to catch a few new client hooks seems unlikely that this could cause a normal user problems.



So what cheats does this new one detect?
