Yeah I know these and played them too.
There's blue shit and Opposing Force
I mean a sequel to the original HL story, what happened after Freeman accepted G-Man's offer ( Of course the other option is impossible ). OpFor and BlueShift take place at the time of the original HL events.Comment

Well, if VALVe is indeed working on either a new engine, or new games with somebody else's engine, then it wouldn't surprise me to see a round of games based on it, with say, HL2, TF2, and CS2 all being retailed. The series has enough popularity that they'd be kind of foolish to release all 3 of those at the same time, though, as plenty of people would buy HL2 after the earlier release of CS2, but not many people would do vice-versa if you could still just download the mod. Any way you look at it, their MO suggests that they'll take a generation of technology and make a lot of different games from it, and try to make those games last, rather than just releasing a replacement title every so often.
In the end, though, that's all just rampant speculation. Seems like with all the employees at VALVe, though, they're bound to be working on something. Simply patching CS and making the Steam system doesn't seem like quite enough to keep that big of a team busy, but we'll see.
As far as Blue Shift goes, well, I had mixed opinions. It took me perhaps 1/4th of the time I spent in HL to go through all of Blue Shift. The idea of adding high-res textures is nice, I suppose, and I'm sure there was plenty of work put into the mapping (which is perhaps why Paul was commenting), but in the end, it didn't give enough play for the buck, imho. Half-Life compelled me enough to go through it twice normally, and once with Counter-Life. I uninstalled Blue Shift when I finished it, and haven't had a desire to reinstall ever.
Just as a musing... didn't somebody try to make a SP mod that was based on "events after the original HL storyline" or whatever? Something about betrayal and all that stuff by whoever employs the G-man... sounds vaguely familiar, anyway.Comment

It is only a small team at Valve who are working on supporting the Half-Life tech and mods. The rest are working on TF2, and anything else they may or may not be working on.
A number of SP mods have continued where HL left off. In fact, 70% of the BMRF ones have. Go to the major review sites and take a wander, you'll probably uncover something.
Blue Shift took me a little under 3 hours, yet i didn't feel short changed in any way. It cost me £14.99, and i knew exactly what i was getting - A short addon to a game which has kept me here for 4 years. Gearbox told the world it was only meant as a small Dreamcast exclusive, not an expansive pack like Opposing Forces, yet everyone was up in arms saying it didn't last them 20 hours.
I knew when i bought it what i was getting, and I really enjoyed it. The HDD pack alone would have been worth the money, let alone the excellent combat sections and general story/puzzle elements. When you love the Black Mesa "experience" as much as I do, it really does add to the overall whole. If Gearbox had suggested that it was going to be an epic, THEN i would have been disappointed. But they didn't - They were honest, and i had fun.
That's all i care about.Comment
