Its fairly obvious as to the reason for developers being changed, look at what the president of Gearbox, Randy Pitchford had to say:
"From my experience, Valve is filled with very smart and talented people and certainly Gearbox has plenty of smart and talented people as well. There should be a certain level of trust that those closest to a project are making smart decisions because they're privy to more information than everyone else and because they have experience in matters of game software development."
Those closest to the project were Gearbox. Everyone else is a swipe at management. This becomes clearer where he talks about "those with experience in game development". Those without experience are obviously Sierra management. <Sigh> Another case of management poking their noses where its not wanted.
