i think if an a it should take you to 30 or so, and if it hits your head thrugh the shield it should take you to low teens, as if it had hit your legs without a shield. that seems kind of realistic. i think.

I use to really hate servers which had an anti-awp plugin. "Play the game the way it was meant to be played ass hats, use skill to counter an awper don't run around like an idiot and get picked off". But the more I got in to CS, especially at the CAL level, I realized how insanely over powered this gun is, and there is no true way to counter an awper in the right hands of a skilled CS sniper. The gun just isn't fun, and I don't get people who use it consistently on pubs even though I use to be one of them. Wow you can go 16-0, 20-0, 40-2 but what is the fucking point. But clan matches aren't about fun. However All in all, I think the awp is part of CS, and it would be a crime to remove it.

If its a Type III ballistic shield it should stop 5.56mm and 7.62mm rounds fired from the automatics, if its a Type IIIA ballistic shield it can not stop those automatic rifle rounds. Neither type should stop a sniper rifle round, so it not stopping the AWP in CS 1.6 is accurate.



And as a side note, once again we have a high and mighty CPL player noting how useless the 550 autosniper is. That gun can decimate an entire opposing team by itself. Its as powerful as an AK and is very accurate even in full auto. The G3 is even more powerful. Anyone that says the autosnipers or any other gun is useless obviously has no clue how to use it properly.

awp is a great gun and it takes lots of practice to get good with it you don't just become an awp whore overnight in r/l it would go through a riot shield like a piece of paper riot shields are meant to stop small arms fire not high powered rifles

MikeJ --- I understand your point, I usually take that side, the Play it the way it was made.



But with all the updates and crap they throw in nowadays. I seem to look less upon the awp more and more, MIND YOU -- I do use the awp, but I am NOT a awp whore. I use it when I think it will be usefull, not every friggin round just cause I can.



I'm just saying - USE THE AWP IN A TACTICAL situation , not as a Rushing weapon, or assault weapon, it's ment to cover your team, or long range shots.



when I see a AWP whore running inside assault with his awp (while his whole team is alive) -- I think.. kick the awp whore.



if I see someone covering his team or sniping from a roof, I think sweet. I got some cover - or - oh shit gotta take him out.



IN RETROSPECT - USE THE AWP TACTICALLY -- NOT EVERY ROUND - JUST CAUSE YOU CAN.

well see ballistic shields are really meant to stop things like machine pistols and handguns, not high powered rifles. Sure the AWP will go right through it but i'd much rather it take 2 hits.



btw I never understood people's problem with the AWP. Most of the people who complain about it being cheap are the ones that suck at sniping and thus are just poor sports. It's there for a reason and really the latest versions have made it pretty much useless if you're moving.

the shield is a tough item to balance in the CS world. if it only stops pistol/smg/shotgun fire; it is useless after the 3rd round when everyone has assault rifles. if the shield is effective in reducing assault rifle damage. then the AWP must be able to kill the shield user quickly in order to keep things the rock, paper, scissors game that is CS.



on pub servers all the CTs will have shields and all the Ts will have AWPs.

so, any pistol, huh? how does one hold dual pistols and a shield? kinda like the 'hold gun with two hands and climb a ladder' style of unrealistic counter-strike? hmm...



...and the awp really is unbalenced. i can pull the pin of a grenade and drop it at my feet and NOT die, but a single awp bullet from across a map takes me down.
