STEAM release is delayed, and thats ticking off alot of you. VALVe are blaming it on a leak but tbh i don't buy that. The leak was not as big as the launch was going to be, so if a leak caused the entire system to fall flat on its face what would the official launch have done? IMO, and it is only my opinion so don't bit my head of, its all a big cover-up. All the launch of the hyped CS1.6 has been resting on STEAM, and STEAM just wasn't ready, dispite what they were saying. My guess is that they wanted to find an excuse to delay AGAIN, so fabricated the rather poor excuse of the leak - the leak shoulda just ment a percentage (at my guess 20% tops) of the CS population got it early, not cause the servers to melt down. Through constant trying i've been able to get STEAM and its a pile of poo. its bulky slow and looks like puke, and i havn't been able to get 1.6 yet. I've also been getting alot of errors and bugs. STEAM wasn't ready so VALVe tried covering their behinds and have mad a poor excuse for its failed release.

It's not the people who got STEAM early who are at fault its VALVe. (i also wonder how many 56kers tried it and gave it a go as well - that would slow it right down)

my respect only to gooseman and cliffe, not valve or steam. i'm sure gooseman n cliffe would never have come up with this stupid idea of incorporating steam for download of updates to cs.

No need to waste time on a petition for 1.6 to be released as a patch, because it will be anyway. It's CS 1.7 now that will be the total Steam switchover for final release versions and upgrades of CS.

I dont know why everyone hates steam so much..its no big deal the servers couldnt handle the stress of so many users trying to download cs beta 1.6. The whole idea was for this to be a stress-test and well i guess it did what its supposed to do steam needs more bandwith and in future releases and im pretty sure Valve is working on fixing that. I mean stop dissing Valvet they are doing a pretty good job. I did have some trouble with steam at first but right now i have 70 minutes to go untill i finish downloading cs1.6 and i actually like steam. Im sure when it gets sorted out its going to be a very efficient system and im looking forward to using it. I dont see why everyone is complaining so what the steam servers couldnt handle all that bandwith big deal go out in to the real world or play 1.5 or something then go try again thats what i did and here i am downloading cs BETA 1.6 no problem ive actually created 2 accounts because one of them got messed up when my pc froze but instead of going insane and going on a rampage posting comments about how id like to see every person working at valve die and burn in hell forever i just created a new account. Steam is going to be very very useful just stop bitching and give it a chance.

I knew they wouldn't have enough bandwidth! I guessed days ago that Steam wouldn't be able to handle the number of downloads! I was right! I win!

While I think that STEAM will be a good thing, I can't believe that VALVe wouldn't have anticipated this.

I can't d/l it anyways, i'm rebuilding my PC and I am having trouble with XP and my RAID setup.

OK THREAD CLOSED, NOTHING TO SEE HERE.

Will that make everyone go away?

                  Well... I would delete about all 900 comments, page by page, but then you'd ALL be banned for having more than 4 comments deleted. I do not have the time nor the will to go through 900+ comments and delete the bad ones. Maybe I will delete them ALL if we hit 1000. So again;

STOP POSTING HERE. GO OUTSIDE, GO PLAY REGULAR CS OR ANOTHER GAME, GO TO WORK/SCHOOL, DO SOMETHING BESIDES POST HERE.

PS: Rizzuh, for the love of god, make this thread close.

This message needs to be posted as the first message in this thread so maybe some of the IDIOTS in this thread will understand what is going on.

#1 and most important!!!!! This was a test for STEAM 2.0, NOT CS 1.6!!!!! If any of you bother to read news articles on this site or other sites you would know that CS 1.6 IS going to be released as a normal download AT A LATER TIME!!!!! You clowns that are crying about a normal release and signing some petition haven't a clue!

#2 If valve wanted to test a bandwith issue, how better to test it then by offering the hottest online game ever as bait? They know there are hundreds of thousands of players and that this would draw them in and push the bandwith to the limits. It didn't work as expected, so off they go to fix it.

#3 CS 1.6 that IS downloaded is playable (as far as I can tell) ONLY through steam as a client server application. It DOES NOT modify your current install of cs but apparently does use the installed version of hl.exe that resides on your system. To use 1.6 you currently must use it through steam.

#4 CS 1.6 is also a BETA! This is how they learn what works and what doesn't. I can remember WAY back when cs first started, before knives and cool machine guns, that the guys relied on input from the community to HELP the project. Half you clowns have commented about 1.6 like its a final!!!!!!! ITS A DAMN BETA!!!!!!

All you whining kiddies need to understand that software publishing and game creation is a BUSINESS. IF THEY DON'T MAKE MONEY, THEY DON'T MAKE GAMES!!!!!!! GET A GRIP, GO BACK TO SCHOOL, DO YOUR HOMEWORK, DO WHATEVER, but before you start swearing like a sailor in the forums and cussing up a storm, get some facts about the situation before you start mouthing off.

I am just as disappointed as everyone else about this setback and really want to play the new version but i'm not shooting off my mouth without the facts. Get a grip, get a life, play a different game, whatever, but for crying out loud...SHUT THE HELL UP IF YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND OR KNOW THE FACTS!!!!!!!!!

                          this is a recording.....click!

There's nothing wrong with this thread, the comments are designed to allow CSN visitors to express their views.

This is obviously a very important topic so many more people than normal are posting today, dispite all the trolling, it's worth hearing all the sides.

This is precisely why it is a beta release so problems like nowhere near enough bandwith for the thusands of connections can be sorted.
