yes, am sure. there is no patch or zip file. you have to download the whole thing every time you connect to a 1.6beta server (which is not possible at this moment)

I clicked on someone's server on steam and it started connecting >=D But I didn't have 1.6 so steam stopped responding... =/

Heh, after a much anticipated day i had....downloaded the link from steam to cs central....got the account, then recieved the breaking news from #counter-strike....i just went ahead and unstalled the 1 gig steam dir that took a while to make in the 1st place...alot of preloading....wish they had an option to choose if you wanted TFC installed.....oh well, i think i am hyped out and wait for the official re-release of 2.0. At this point i dont care for it and stick to my 1.5, though i know many of you are disappointed

Play SimCity4 and create a tiny town. When you make the small town a big metropolitan city, then, I wish, you will be able to get 1bit/sec download speed from STEAM. So, find another tools to kill the time people. That is, looks to me, the best soulution for this mayhem. -_-

That is the reason why people can't connect to game servers.

I'm assuming that there's no WonID type of authentication that is currently active for the CS1.6 Servers at the moment. Also, the whole Steam and CS1.6 downloads never asked for confirmation of our Halflife or CS install dir, nor does it ask for our CDKEY, so I'm guessing anyone without CS could've downloaded Steam and CS1.6Beta. Steam never merged CS1.6 into my real CS directory instead it's in Program Files\Steam\SteamCache. I have a CS1.6Server running, it's called 'RealoRc's Server, I Bet You Can't Join' You'll get a cookie if you can* =D

um, all steam beta tests have allowed anyone (with/without CS installed) to play. you wouldnt have a beta test and ask testers to purchase software for a CDKEY prior to the test, would ya?

Heres an easy way to do this.

1.Go to http://www.cscentral.com/cs1.6.php

2.Then click on Download SteamInstall.exe (4.02 mb)

3. Click on DOWNLOAD, Let it d/l takes two mins or less

4. Install Steam by opening what you just downloaded

5.Create an account, let it load CS and half-life

6. Click on severs and Click on one with a nice ping

7.it will automatically start d/l from it not from it.(I waited only 10 mins)

8.Now you have 1.6 but you cant join people yet so you have to create your own and play by your self (Its fun but i rather play 1.5 till they fix the problems)

well, steam and valve only have themselves to blame, but this has allready been said, everything that could possible have been said has allready, if people wanna find out more stuff about what happened go to the steam forums

my advice is dont download 1.6 untill more info is available, many people cannot run HL.exe anymore becuase of A: a failed update or B: a succesfull update, but HL.exe needs to auth with steam, if the line is bogged down, or indeed not available then this is unlikely/impossible, so you will not be able to play HL, CS or ANY mods untill this is all fixed

finally 22 hours later my steam is working and d/l 1.6 now to create my own lan and test the weapons out.:)

I dont understand why people cant just take one second to look back in the forums every thing has been explained many times..If your frustrated about it being delayed so is everyone else things go wrong it happens.

You fucking n00bs...someone ban this guy! You know Valve have people working day and night with everyday update. Show some damn respect for the people who bring Counter-Strike to us.
