exactly, but 80% of the cs community doesnt want to believe that.

also, i've never heard about that software mode glitch, and i doubt its real. my friend has some gay voodoo card and he can see through certain walls, but thats because of some glitch in his card when he runs opengl

as for the sogamed stuff... lol. people say low sensitivity is better, well, i disagree. i have a razer boomslang 2000 and i prefer a higher sensitivity because my mouse can control it just as well as i can. butttttttttt whatever

Tech nonce, what are you on about? I havent banned anyone from my server, which is why i am asking about better anticheat protection, so think before you open your mouth. Are you a server admin, or just teh amazingly talented player u claim to be. As a server admin, I see that plenty of people do cheat, as do the numerous sites devoted to that malefactorous practice testify.

There are at least 4-5 sites (In english) which are constantly updated on new haxs, which will get around various people. With the cs community as large as it is, even if we were to say 1% of people cheat, that isill, according to the 1.2 million players a day through gametiger,(previous comment stat) we are looking at 120 thousand cheats a day!

But im not here to play the stats fiddle. I simply think u, tech are being completely ignorant if you believe that noone cheats anymore.

Perhap the reason u think custom models are for n00bs is because Your aimbot wouldn twork with the custom models? ;P But no, they now do vector programming for custom models too. So in short, I disagree with you, Steam will help to reduce cheating further, even if you were right, a reduction would be better. (Except i see there are sites already claiming they have cheats for 1.6! And Steam cheats How strange that people go to all that effort, for 'hardly any cheats')

I often have extremely skilled players with much admin experience on my server, and even on their say so i dont instaban peeps. I would thank you NOT to say people like me are damging the community, If you had ever read my posts youd be aware that im a very community minded person, It is judgemental asholes such as your self, who think they know it all, who damage this community. With your atitude i find it hardly surprising you get kicked off servers, I wouldnt hesitate to send you packing. Oh gifted one!

And there are numerous VAC Proof cheats, I test em quite often, (ON MA OWN SEVRVER!) And that isnt even going into the damn tweakers, and so on. Im fully aware that there are better players than me, and esp lambert etc, ak blah blah are all dangers to fun gaming, end of story, DOnt get at me! get at the cheats, we should like, storm a chet site and cuss em or something. Grrr, feelin hot now, I have to go and slay.

    PEace y'all
lol newbie, i read the first paragraph and i already knew you're post was shit.

oOHoHOH WOW, "there are 4-5 cheat sites updated constantly" woowohwowhow! that doesnt mean there are alot of cheaters, which there isnt.

The author, William "CubicVirtuoso" McMahon, is not alone in the CS community. Like many others, he needs to be reminded about the definition of beta testing.
Like many others, you apparently need to be reminded that this is steam 2.0.
If these problems Valve have faced over the last week were related to the final release of Steam, then they would deserve all the criticism they've had. However, seeing as this is merely a beta release, they should be applauded for using this opportunity to test and fix the Steam system before it is actually released.

      GG Valve.
They had what, a YEAR to learn that trying to serve the entire CS community a highly anticipated update BY THEMSELVES was a bad idea? Stick that in your "beta" pipe and smoke it.

      "GG", fuckstick.

The article did seem like a bash on Valve and CS.
When you have a complete cock-up like this, any truthful article is going to be a bash.

It was released by Fileshack before it was supposed to.

The release had nothing to do with VALVe it was purely Fileshack getting ahead of themselves.
      Except, not.

"The file was never even made official and we were never given the green light to put the client out on Fileshack"

The 'shack was not the "culprit".

That software mode glitch existed in q2/aq2. As the HL engine is related to the q2 engine (there both derived from the q1 engine, I think), it's possible it has the glitch, too.

Thank you for your articulate, and intersting counterpoint, to my opinion. I feel safe in the knowledge, that yes I am a NEWBIE, and OMG, YOure right, there are NO cheaters! So you dont want to welcome newbies in to the community then, i seem to remeber having a similar discussion with poeple last october. If the community, u obviously believe to exist does exist. Why be so antagonistic? TBH your probably one of these kids with delusions of grandeur. Read my post, and answer it, dont mindlessly flame it as 'shit' Or alternatively, try empathy, its a pretty good tool, when it comes to a dsicussion. But you seem to lack the intelligence to have a conversation, and discuss diffferences of opinion as an ADULT!

You have to drop into argumentative mode. Thats ok, 'Cos if I empathise with you, i feel anger, and so much frustration.

If you empathise with me, you should feel some chilled humanity. At the end of the day I know who i would rather be.

          PEace

PS I reiterate the whole point of my original post, that STeam, will hopefully, prevent cheating. How cna you arguew about that. do u want cheats to bepossible?

It's pretty clear now that everyone who really wanted to try 1.6 has already done so. I've played one game so far, on a 6 player listen-server and I had pings around 50. Steam has improved a lot since 1.0, Valve is going in the right direction. The problem once again is simply bandwidth. It's just too bad the future of internet gaming is in the hands of a bunch of greedy ISPs whose sole purpose is making a good return on minimal capital investment. Processors and graphics have improved dramatically in the past 5 years, but there's been very low improvement in net speed. One of the reason why CS is so popular is the low maintenance cost of servers compared to other games, but in an ideal world we should all be able to host a server from our homes.

Maybe "derived" is the wrong word, please excuse me in that case :)

Somebody please be so kind and post an email address where to send Steam bug reports. Couldn't find one on www.steampowered.com...

edit: My english is indeed worse than I thought: I meant "they're both derived..." of course...

i sent 3 bug reports to VALVe, the counter-strike team, and steampowered and the day after steam had a new patch

i asked a question to the cs team and i had no answer tho...my question was:

"Were the hit-boxes for the headshots enlarged in 1.6b?"

and to everybody that is sayin that VALVe and STEAM sucks...i have only one thing to say...

not happy???...go program your own cs mod....

I rarely see cheaters playing now in 1.5

In 1.6 they are everywhere. It will last until Valve turns VAC on for the beta.

Try the steam support forum at www.steampowered.com

There are some acual people there that are reporting bugs, rather than whining.

The problem with headshots has never been related to the size of the hitboxes. It is the random cloud bullet physics of CS that leads to excessive unaimed headshots. Other hitbox bugs in 1.3 and previous were preventing headshots that should have occurred...

first of all, i thought u banned ppl who provided links to sites where u could download steam 2.0 beta, yet u URSELF provide one... funny, no?

my god, this article is a joke. when i read that it was posted at halflife.org, i thought it would be a good legitimate article. but turns out it's a misleading, poorly written one, giving me an impression a 12 year old wrote it. to begin with, steam DOES NOT have to download 409 mb in order to give you cs. if he was smart enough to look at how much data is transfered during a fresh install of 1.6b, he'd notice it's merely under 50 mb! why? because the 400 mb cache file is exactly that - cache! it's used in-game, and is mosltly empty otherwise. if u were to compess the whole SteamCache/Counte-Strike/ folder, it's about 42 mb! and another, more important, thing is that he doesn't understand what a BETA is, what the purpose of a BETA TEST, nor what BETA TESTERS do and expect when downloading BETA software.

once again, i'm surprised that such a bad article was actually put up on halflife.org and then, provided a link to here over at csnation. did they pay rizzuh to do this? probly stealth advertisement. don't see why else he'd do this.
