#66 Before you go getting all irate with me, you should at least read what I wrote. I got it from VALVE's steam site. It had mirrors from all the major gaming sites. Valve never mentioned me, or a LEAK ever. I wasnt invited to the playtest. I was just the first one in line when Valve posted it for ALL to download. You my friend have no idea what happened or what you're talking about, so just stay out of it. And spoonman, Rizzuh took a shot a cheap shot at me first, and I'm one to swing back. I think the whole thing is pretty stupid to argue over, but I'm just trying to shed some light on the reality of what happened.

I really like 1.6. Should I care about any of this. I just play the game guys. The shield is great. The Galli is nutz. Let me say again how crazy the shield is. You got some guy ducking behind it and everyone unloading, makes the game crazy. I love 1.6 beta. The rest of you just need anger managment.

But rizzuh, (mr. my opinion matters most) wants everyone to believe it was the leak that caused all these problems. Why, I don't know. I think he just loves sucking up to Valve so much, thats its clouded his ability to honestly report on CS related things. Wake the hell up Rizzuh. Weather it was leaked or not, there was no way this software was going to work well. Stop trying to make excuses for Valve, that Valve themselves never even said. THERE NEVER WAS A LEAK for the final time.rizzuh wrote..
and as for spelling mistakes:
I think LuftWaffle missed the point on the majority of the article. Steam was going to be released only hours after the leak began, how could it have magically handled the load then?

I disagree. That would have made people hate Valve even more... don't you remember what happened here when rizzuh announced an un-official estimate as to when it would be released? People were irate at that even, I can't even imagine how the community would react if Valve didn't say anything about the release until 3 days later.
Also, its valves fault that the public is going crazy over the beta. If valve had posted another estimation of when the beta would be released and not an exact date their site wouldn't have gotten hammered that day.Comment

Steampowered.com gave links to Gamespy.com and Fileshack.com. I don't know exactly what happened, but I can safely say you didn't get a legit version from an email signed by Valve. Nice try though.
Valve isn't going to publicly say the file was leaked, because that would basically be public humiliation for any site that had a link. If you're telling me Valve wants to risk that, then you're a fool.Comment

Bozer got the file from the Steampowered.com forums. It was hosted on a speakeasy user's website. There is no question that it was unofficial. Anyone would have known that. The .zip file format indicated it. Sebastian even removed the file.
After that, CSC's mirror was posted on steampowered.com as the only mirror and from there it's pretty much moral ambiguity.Comment

Will you ban me for my bung comment? rizzuh... please excuse my Vicodin induced rant (I have an acute cervical strain). =) And... even though you told the whole world about my illiteracy problem... I still love you puffycloud!
You can defend your position, but if you flame/attack other people again, I will ban you. And I'm not even a mighty god of webmastering. :\
You have been warned.Comment

good article, esp how he points out the contratictory nature of the other one, but when i got the steam beta the steam site had said that the download was available at 4 sites, which none had at the time. so what were they on about, they must have intended the public to have it?!Comment

I agree with you, except for my minor irritation (finally decided after having played it on a LAN), with the even-more-random feeling the game has now, probably mostly lent by the three-shot FAMAS and the new Super-MP5. That and the riot shield randomly allowing the people behind it to get shot. (though apparently this is to be fixed)

Other than that, the map changes are all lovable, having new stuff to play with is lots of fun as always, and the new UI makes me obscenely happy. Obscenely.Comment

Since "want more code?" isn't working right now (damn those MS-SQL admins not pluging holes) and I don't remeber the quoting tag, i'm gonna cut-n-paste what RabidLepper wrote:
I'm thrilled that Valve is still adding and adding things into half life where they aren't making a direct profit from it. Not many gaming companies would continue to patch a game as old as Half Life and I'm hoping that more people start to realize what Valve is doing.
Ehh...
Wake up and feel the capitalist world you live in. You think VALVe, or any profit-making company, would do stuff for free, or for love of the community? As Dr.Evil would say: rightttttttt.
