That said, are there going to be any dire consequences for those of us who already have the beta? My copy was sent to me by a friend, who said it was an official release. When Valve finally is ready to release it en masse, will it be any different from the version already out there?

I got it working, and I send in a couple bug reports to cliffe. I figure I was one of the lucky ones to get a first shot at it I could at least take some screenshots of the bugs I found and send em to the cs team.

I don't even think it really was officially released. The file CS Central was giving out was obviously leaked because they had it long before any others. I think the only reason the Steam site posted a link is because the webmaster was misinformed. Or something.



Although I'm not always right, so why trust my opinion now?

It's actually pretty sad that people can't respect the wishes of the game developers and wait for the "finished" product. I'm sure the folks at VALVe are doing their damndest to get things up and running, so show some goddamned patience. It's only a BETA, after all...

CS Central posted the copy they got from the press playtest, I believe. It's the same one that would have been released officially. Steam 2.0 BETA was never released for download to the mirror sites which would have posted it officially.

Steam is working better today than thursday. I also noticed your crosshair dissapears on your pistol after using the shield, i hope that's a bug. de_airtrip seems like good map and I hope it finds its way onto the CAL rotation.
